About This Item

Shaped, inlaid, fretted and finished—Hard rock Maple with a thin, vintage tint finish. These necks look and play great!

Choose solid Maple, Indian Rosewood, or Indian Laurel fingerboard. All have a single-action truss rod and traditional "skunk stripe" down the back. The string nut is slotted and shaped from PPS plastic with a flat bottom.

  • Thin polyurethane finish
  • 22 frets
  • Maple, Indian Rosewood, or Indian Laurel fingerboard
  • Peghead-adjustable truss rod (for 4mm Allen wrench)
  • Traditional dot inlays
  • 10mm diameter pegholes
  • Without mounting holes, so you can drill to fit your body

Peghead is drilled for 6-in-line tuning machines. 10mm-diameter holes fit sealed gear tuners with threaded peghead bushing. See all tuners.

Ideally, the neck should just drop into the neck-pocket, or be a little snug. Don't force the neck into the pocket. If the body is unfinished, remember that the finish will make the neck pocket smaller with lacquer build up on the edge of the rout. Be sure to compensate for the finish buildup or the neck will be too tight after finishing.

The skunk stripe is the same wood as the fingerboard for necks with Indian Rosewood and Indian Laurel fingerboards. Necks with maple fingerboards have merbau wood skunk stripes.

Good neck

Got this as a replacement to the Stewmac Tele Kit neck as the original was warped. Neck is 1/8 short in thickness for the neck pocket depth so we determined it needed a shim - which customer support forgot to include. I ended up using a spare neck plate as a shim. Has to sand off the area that drops into the neck pocket to get a good fit - finish made it too thick. Was able to dial in the setup. Tele now plays like a champ. Will be replacing the nut with Tusq.

Good value

Wasn’t expecting perfection at this price, so a little damage to the finish around the heel-end of the fingerboard, and 3 flecks of black plastic under the poly in the head stock were things I could live with. Other than that, the neck is made from two beautiful pieces of wood, the rosewood is nice and dark, the inlay work and fret work are well done, and the finish, other than the two defects, is fine. The vintage tint is not quite as dark as I was thought it would be, but I expect it will darken in couple of years and look just right. It plays well, nothing wrong there. The old neck was fairly flat and fast, and this one is maybe a hair slower if I really pay attention. Overall I’m happy with this neck.

Good neck for reasonable price

This is a great neck, I ended up swapping out the nut with a tusq nut. Now some things that you are not told is the neck has a radius of 9.5" and a width of 1.66". This means if you are going to get a prefitted/slotted nut from tusq you need to order the Black TUSQ XL 43mm Flat Bottom 12" Radius Strat Nut PT-5043-00 × 1. This will fit pretty well with minor sanding. Also it would be nice if Stewmac put tuning machine recommendations that fit these necks.

Mitey Mite Vintage Amber Neck for Tele

By

First I will state the pros of this neck. The neck was straight, frets were crowned properly, level and the fret ends were reasonably smooth. The neck fit a Fender MIM tele body perfectly. There were no flaws in the neck's finish. The nut was properly cut. Once fitted with strings the tele exhibited typical tele tones and average sustain. After replacing the nut with a Tusq nut the sustain improved significantly. The neck is comfortable to play and there is no evidence of fretting out during extreme bends.
Now the cons. The finish was not vintage amber. It was far too light in tint. The nut is a typical cheap plastic nut. Functional, but bone would have been better for a vintage neck. Again sustain and high frequency notes improved with nut replacement.
For the price this is an excellent neck. My main quibble is with appearance and not function.

Excellent Neck

This is the best Tele neck I've ever had (Fender or otherwise). The profile is perfect, workmanship is excellent, and the 1 11/16" nut width makes it much more comfortable than the narrower necks. Highly recommended!

Bought this neck to replace the stock neck on my Godin A6 ultra. Neck fit perfectly and the fret work and nut were perfect. Unbelievable value and would buy it again in a second.

Very nice replacement neck

I was very pleased at the quality of the neck. Very nice finish. Fret ends were smooth. A couple of the frets were every so slightly out of level. I could have probably just bolted it on and been happy but an easy leveling and polishing job and it was perfect.

Unexpected tiger flame

This is listed as a standard maple neck but shows distinct tiger striping throughout. It happens to go well with my build, but not everyone might be pleased with it.
