The first board I ordered had some grain run out. I sent a photo of the board to StewMac. What did they do? They sent me two (yes, two) beautiful replacement boards. Gotta love StewMac!

Curly maple blank is not square

By

Verified Buyer

Just recieved my curly maple blank and at the base it measures 4 2/16 and at the top it measures under 4 inches. Very dissatisfied with paying this much and receiving an blank that is not square. Have been making guitars and ordering wood blanks from stewmac for a couple years. Never had an issue until this blank.

Response from StewMac

Hi David,

Thank you for sharing your honest feedback with us. We are very sorry to hear that the Curly Maple Electric Guitar Neck Blank you received didn't meet your expectations. The dimensions listed on our website are minimum measurements that the billet must meet to be up to spec, but the actual dimensions can vary slightly and end up a bit larger. These blanks are ready to be sawn and shaped into a neck, so they do not need to be square. It's possible that any square neck blanks you've received in the past are more likely coincidental rather than intentional. Remember, your satisfaction is guaranteed and we stand behind our return policy. If at any time you are not satisfied with a product, you may return it for a refund or exchange. Please call us at 1-800-848-2273.

Nice maple, dry and straight grained. I would also like a quarter sawn option

Yes the figured maples are pricey, but wow are they beautiful! I had one that came a little warped and called customer service about it. They rushed me a replacement right away that was perfect and with incredible flame. The customer support is top notch.

Almost perfect.

The price is right, delivery is fast, and the quality was great. My only wish is that Stew Mac also sold a quarter sawn option, that would be worth paying more for. But if you're happy with a flat sawn blank, I've found these to do a great job. Just be aware due to sizing that these aren't suitable for a one piece neck, you'll need a fretboard for these. And maybe some carbon fibre neck rods, which Stew Mac also sell.

99.9% of the time the blanks are dead flat and straight. What more do you want?
