About This Item

Professional results in a small package.
Get fine control for spot lacquer finishing, stain retouching, and custom graphics with this affordable kit.

The right size for touch-ups and more
An airbrush is a great way to lay down ultra-thin, even layers of finish, but many are too big and bulky or get clogged up and sputter—which means sanding and starting all over. This outfit is easy to use, simple to clean, and perfect for guitar builders.

Small details make a big difference
The 10' flexible hose gives you a full range of motion and the 1/4" NPT threads connect easily to most standard hose fittings. This set includes everything you need to hook up to your compressor and spray at 15-60 psi. The siphon-feed airbrush has a 0.4mm nozzle and an adjustable fluid cap.

This outfit includes 2 glass jars—one for spraying and one for mixing or thinning lacquer and stains. Tip! Never use plastic jars for mixing because they can react with solvents and finishes. These 2-ounce jars are also handy for storing partially used mixes.

Lacquer should be strained and thinned 1:1 before spraying. Not recommended for spraying waterbase finishes.

  • Airbrush with 0.4mm nozzle
  • Adjustable fluid cap
  • Flexible 10' hose
  • 1/4" NPT threads
  • Includes 2 2-ounce mixing jars

Need more mixing jars? They're also available separately. We always have a few around for flash coats, thinners, and fine-tuning colors.

The first airbrush was defective so I contacted StewMac to see my options. Without question, they sent me a free replacement. StewMac’s customer service is the best in the business and this airbrush is of a quality that far exceeds its price. This airbrush will now serve me well for many sunbursts in the future!

Very cheap but very useful

Dan Erlewine recommended this rig decades ago before his StewMac hookup. I've been finishing ukuleles and banjos with mine for many years with no complaints. I use various varnish finishes including Tru-Oil with excellent results. I replaced it with the StewMac version that used to cost a lot more just to get the air hose with the braided cover. StewMac should add it as an accessory. The plastic hose tries to coil around anything within reach, like a morning glory vine. In all but the coldest weather I can step out of my shop, shoot a coat of finish, and be back inside before the material or instrument can chill enough to affect the work. I have a much more expensive airbrush but haven't used it in decades. This one does everything I need. You don't need a large compressor to drive it, but make sure it has an air storage tank for smooth spraying.
