10.5mm Round Conversion Bushings

About This Item

Press-fit brass conversion bushings let you install tuning machines with 1/4"-diameter string posts into Fender's modern 10.5mm-diameter pegholes.

Great for retrofitting vintage-style tuners — no need to plug and redrill the peghead. Special relic nickel finish complements vintage hardware. Set of 6.

Please measure your pegholes before ordering.

Homemade bushing puller to protect the peghead

Dan Erlewine needs to pull the tuner grommets/bushings from the peghead of this old Gibson. The lacquer is already damaged, and pulling the bushings can yank finish off too. Dan rigs a jig that holds the finish down while the bushing comes up.

Excellent product and customer service. The postage however was an expedition into the bank account. Very expensive.

I used these on 3 fender necks and worked great. Had to ream holes so slightly and pushed right in looking like the old ones which were vintage necks that I just didn't want to fill and re drill. I suppose someone could still do that.

I used these on a custom build for a buddy of mine. I was installing gold Klusons on an Indonesian, Squier Stratocaster. The fit was great and saved a ton of time on this part of the build. They looked great and added to the tuning stability. As always I'm very impressed and satisfied with the quality and fit of the StewMac product line.

My skills in modifications, fabrication and repair have been greatly advanced with StewMac tools and products.
Thank You,
Steve Folino

Quick, clean solution to an old problem.

These conversion bushings are a quick, clean solution to improper fitting tuner shafts. In the bad old days we had to plug the oversized holes with wood plugs and redrill to proper fit. Desperate repairs with tape wound around the undersized bushings were not unknown. These Conversion Bushings are sized within a few thousandths and are tapered so they can be pressed in. If you are removing them be careful to support the surrounding head veneer with a tight fitting block of hardwood drilled to fit around the bushing collar. You will avoid a difficult repair by so doing. They sure are a simple fix for a small investment.
