Pickup height springs for Stratocaster single coil pickups

By

Verified Buyer

I'm very happy with the Stratocaster single coil pickup height springs that I bought from Stewart MacDonald. You can set the height of your pickups without worrying about stripping the thread in the base of the pickups because they don't put as much pressure on the base as the rubbers do. I have fitted them to 2 of my Fenders Strats so far and they're working well and I can't hear any difference in tone since I fitted them. I'll be fitting them to my 3rd Strat soon. I recommend these springs for peace of mind. John Hill

a lot better than the rubber tubing fender uses

I purchased this item because this is what Fender used to use before they went to the rubber tubing, I replaced the tubing with the springs and it works great best of all, it won't dry out like the rubber tubing,

Nice little springs!

I put these in a '66 FENDER Musicmaster II mutant that I acquired a ways back for its second pickup adjustment screws. Fit nicely into the close quarters musicmaster/ mustang route! Please note that someone else added the tele style bridge and a strat jack on the instrument before I bought it! Good springs!

Corkscrew springs are very good

There's definitely a case for using this style of pickup screw spring, making one end very stable by using the larger diameter end for the pickguard and the other for the pickup. After seeing the results, you could switch ends, if your particular situation called for it. The coiled springs that look like a ball-point pen spring bunch up and create weird side-pressures on your screw and can distort your pickup instead of keeping it parallel with your pickup. I keep both types, along with the small surgical tube style which I also like.

Pick-Up These Springs

I try to keep a handfull of these on hand so when I need one it's there. They work so much better than the springs out of an old ball-point pen!

They serve their purpose

Making a custom project guitar, and using single-coil pickups (no-name cheapies in case of accidents) which came with no springs (made for direct mounting to the back of the pick-up cavity). Got some of the single-coil pickup rings and screws, and jammed these springs in between and they serve their purpose perfectly!

Works as it should. No rattling and the pickups didn't tilt weird. It's a simple part and it works properly. Great price too!
