Great Bang for the Buck...!

By

Verified Buyer

I installed these in a Fender acoustic I paid about $260 for brand new with a gig bag about 15 years ago. These were to replace the plastic bridge pins that came standard. Let me tell you...what an unexpected surprise...! After properly fitting these...it was like the eq of the entire guitar was bumped up with an extra shimmer on the top end (due to the ebonys tonal characteristic no doubt). The whole guitar became louder as well...! This comparison was done with the same strings by the way. Actually it sounded like the sound was coming from between the sound hole and the bridge after i installed them. Just remarkable...! Pair these with a quality nut and saddle material and watch your inexpensive acoustic come alive...!

Arrived on time but haven't used them yet. Did try the fit on a 1970 Guild F-112. & they fit perfectly in the old holes but I used the Snakewood set I bought first. Was curious about the Snakewood since I've used Ebony pins on other guitars I have. Great service, thanks

I picked up a spare set of the unslotted ebony pins to replace the worn ones on my Country Boy guitar. So far working great.

Added info to original review

For the fact of full disclosure, I feel that it's important to add what could be an important bit of information to my original review.

I took the opportunity to change the strings while putting in the new ebony bridge pins. Not only did I replace them with new ones, I also moved up a full gauge , I'm now using 0115 to 047's. This could also add some impact on the tone I'm getting now !

Thanks and Happy New Year

Aesthetically pleasing with added benefit

Not only do these ebony pins compliment the shell inlay fret markers on my ebony fretboard, but they enhanced the tone of my dreadnaught ! I know, I know that tone is purely subjective, but I'm amazed to my ear, that these ebony pins added warmth to the bottom end, and some mid tone punch. along with a significant increase in sustain & volume. The top end was somewhat tiny, and the ebony pins opened it up and added a clearer more articulate high end ! Original pins were plastic.

The dreadnaught is fashioned after a D28, with a solid sitka spruce top, with solid mahogany back and sides. A solid maple neck, with rosewood over maple over ebony headstock, Historic forward shifted scalloped X bracing, with bone nut and saddle, along with an ebony bridge ! This thing is a cannon and these ebony pins complete the package.

Before you buy, take out your "micrometer" and measure your old pin to match it with these for fit, or you'll be frustrated, get the proper size for your guitar !!

As always, Stewmac has provided an excellent product, smooth transaction, prompt shipping, and another very, satisfied customer...what a nice "tone" surprise for the holidays!!
Thanks Stew and happy holidays to all the good folks at Stewmac !!

Good looking pins

These are well shaped and finished pins. The MOP dots are centered and identical. I can turn (and have turned) my own pins, but for a product this economical, why bother making your own.

They’re just what the Dr. ordered. I had to sell my previous Alvarez 12 string. Now this one is almost identical. Happy customer. ??

I will add them to my Epiphone EL-00 when I change the strings, nut and saddle.
