Highwood Contoured Vintage Saddles for Strat - Set of 6

About This Item

Better tone and no pain!
Strat® saddle screws have been shredding the picking hands of players since 1954. Highwood has redesigned the vintage saddle so the adjustment screws are out of harm's way while retaining the look of the originals. The use of better quality steel improves sustain, single note definition, and harmonic response.

This is one of those "Why didn't I think of that?" solutions!
On traditional Strat saddles, the height screws feed in (and adjust) from the top of the saddle, leaving them protruding out of the top where they inevitably shred your hands. On Highwood saddles, the height screws feed in from the bottom so they never extend over the top of the saddle—all you'll feel is the smooth polished bridge under your palm.

"As a fan of all things vintage I don't generally go for aftermarket upgrades because they often draw attention visually. These Highwood saddles will look right at home on your old Fender while at the same time improving the function, tone, and playability of your guitar."
— Erick Coleman, guitar repairman and StewMac tech advisor

Very happy with the end result. I didn’t have the thread issue others mentioned, installation was super easy. I tightened up the bridge which I previously decked, so that may have had some influence but there was a noticeable improvement in the sustain, which I was skeptical about.
Much more comfortable, wish I would have done it sooner.

Great upgrade for any Strat .

I have a Strat and I have had problems with the saddle screws and had been told to take a look at these . They are exactly what I was looking for and has cured the problem of the screws cutting into my hand . I think these would be a great upgrade for anyone having the same problem and I think you will find out also .

I just did a relic on a strat and changed out the saddles for these and they are great! No more shredded hand and they look like the real thing.

Simple and effective upgrade

I bought these not expecting a huge difference, but am honestly surprised how much more comfortable the recessed screws made my Strat. Also the groove in the saddle keeps the strings from sliding around on the saddle like they did on the old ones. I didn’t notice a tone change which is good.

Easy on the right hand!

I bought a set of these saddles for my 08' U.S. Ash Fender Tele. It had the stamped steel saddles which had a tendency to turn right right hand into hamburger by the end of the night. (why Fender ditched the cast saddles, I'll never know). These saddles look great. They appear to be of very high quality, and are huge improvement when it comes to comfort.

Not just for Strats

I have an Aerodyne Telecaster with a modern bridge. Even though the bridge is modern with separate saddles, it has the same old problem of the screws tearing up my hands. The highwood saddles seem to be marketed towards Stratocasters, but they work great on my Tele as well. I did have to buy longer screws and springs to get the guitar to intonate properly. I think this is because the length of the original saddles were close to 1/4" longer. But they are cheap and easy to find at McMaster.

Aside from being comfortable the biggest change I have noticed is tuning stability. My guitar rarely goes out of tune now. I have been practicing bends (still learning). With the old saddles I would have to re-tune every few minutes. With the highwoods, I can spend an hour sounding like a dying cat (bending strings and missing notes) but when I check the tuning the strings are right in pitch. I never expected that from changing the saddles. So check 'em out for your modern Tele!

High Quality Saddles!!!

Less friction on the friction point for your strings, it has space for your strings to set in, nothing poking out for palm muting technique and lastly very easy to install and stabilize your tuning. Would recommend!
