Schaller Roller Bridge

About This Item

A direct replacement for most Tune-o-matic style bridges!
Schaller's unique variation of the Tune-o-matic bridge features low-friction roller saddles for smoother tuning and tremolo action.

These intonation-adjustable brass saddles allow adjustable string spread, and are angled slightly for correct alignment with the offset mounting studs and threaded bushings. The bridge can be used with standard Gibson® guitar tailpieces.

About bridge & tailpiece measurements

Bridge and Tailpiece reference image

String spread is the distance between the centers of the outer strings on a bridge or tailpiece.

Saddle radius determines the arc formed by all the individual saddle heights, and is similar to the measurement of a fretboard.

Stud/post spacing is the distance between the centers of the mounting posts of a bridge or 'stop' tailpiece.

Quality Roller Bridge

Nicely machined and finished roller bridge with adjustable string spacing allowing proper alignment of strings over pickups and solid bridge to body contact for no loss of sustain with the rollers. Excellent item.

Nice Hardware

I've changed both my Les Paul and my SG to the Schaller roller bridge. The tune-o-matic bridges have a sharp edge which is uncomfortable for my palm. I think it makes them stay in tune better too.

Schaller products never disappoint. Installing a Bigsby on a PRS Starla X and this is a welcome addition. Thanks SM!

A great idea...

I liked the idea of this bridge, especially being able to adjust the string spacing. But in practice it didn't work for me. I play aggressively with my fingers, not a pick, so it may be more my fault than the design, but the treble E string continually skips off of the roller. I'll go back to the standard Adjust-o-matic bridge.

Perfect Replacement, better than original

I broke my bridge on my '64 Gold Top after many hard playing years. This replacement fit perfectly, although I did use the included studs and why not? Anyway, I have two more LP's and a Cort (LP clone) that will be receiving the same bridge in the next few months. Thanks for providing quality parts for our instruments....StewMac ya'll ROCK

Excellent bridge

I purchased this bridge for my Epiphone Les Paul, completely modified in hardware and retouched by my "Maestro" luthier. Easy to assemble, but if you buy this bridge for an Epiphone LP, you need to buy also the appropriate M8 studs (Schaller produces them, and are available on their website). This bridge is excellent even if you don't want to take the next step, that is to assemble a Bigsby B7 on your LP.
Great sustain, the strings rest on a support that allows them to slip, avoiding the stress that cause the break (almost always at the height of the bridge). The order took more than three weeks to reach my home, in Italy, but that's okay. The savings for the whole package purchased worth ...

Great upgrade for old bridge

By

Verified Buyer

The old crusty tune o matic bridge had started to sag on my ‘96 Hamer USA studio, and I wanted to try a roller bridge, and at 14” radius this was a perfect fit. A little tricky to set up, as the rollers spin very easily on their screws, so they can be easily bumped while stringing and change the string spacing. But I had everything measured before install, so any spacing issues were easily corrected. Bridge fit perfect, is very well built, and sounds and looks great!

I installed this on my Les Paul Studio and it now stays in tune. Easy to do and was a straight up swap.

Disappointed

The first bridge I received was defective.. a roller and roller shaft fell out.. Stewmac shipped me a replacement immediately.. I bought this in combo with a B5 Bigsby and although it works, the bridge wobbles in its pins when the tremolo is used.. unstable tuning..
