About bridge & tailpiece measurements

Bridge and Tailpiece reference image

String spread is the distance between the centers of the outer strings on a bridge or tailpiece.

Saddle radius determines the arc formed by all the individual saddle heights, and is similar to the measurement of a fretboard.

Stud/post spacing is the distance between the centers of the mounting posts of a bridge or 'stop' tailpiece.

Positioning the bridge

Tip: Slotting Tune-o-matic style saddles
Nut slotting files work great for metal saddles. Choose your file size as you would when slotting a nut: use the same gauge as the string, or a few thousandths larger. After filing to the desired depth, we suggest polishing the slot with Mitchell's Abrasive Cord to remove file marks and burrs.

Great bridge, works well with my guitar. Excellent StewMac customer support.

One of my favorites

I've used several ToM bridges. While I do like those with posts that you can use a screw driver on, I've always liked the StewMac Nashville. It's a solid well made bridge that allows you to set your own saddle grooves. I've used this bridge many times and will again. It was perfect for my ice cream sandwich build for the Great Guitar Build Off on YouTube.

Fits perfectly into my Jaguar. Had my tech install the bushings for a more sturdy approach. Plays great, with awesome sustain. Highly recommended for upgrading your Fender offsets.

This product is being used for a forthcoming build and could not be happier with the quality of craftsmanship. It is an example of the excellence one has come to expect from StewMac.

Nice Bridge but poor color

The bridge itself is nice but the gold is not very gold. Unlike Gotoh or Gibson.
