Schaller Non-Tremolo Roller Bridge

About This Item

A highly adjustable non-trem Strat inspired bridge that doesn't require through body stringing or string grommets.

Low-friction roller saddles adjust for intonation and height, and for string spacings from 2" to 2-3/16" (50.80mm to 55.56mm). A cam screw locks the saddles to the grooved baseplate. The strings mount at the rear of the bridge. Screws included.

The saddles and the 2-13/16" x 1-15/16" (71.44mm x 49.21mm) baseplate are brass. A removable 1/8" (3.00mm) spacer is included for raising the baseplate height if needed. Use a .050" allen wrench to adjust the saddle heights from 3/8" to 17/32" (9.53mm to 13.49mm) from the guitar body (E string positions).

I've put Schaller bridges on all of my basses because they have unique feature of being able to line up the string with the poles of the pickups. I made a hard-tail Strat and needed a bridge that line the strings up with my P-90 bridge pickup. This is a narrow spacing. The Schaller was the perfect choice. Another huge benefit is the feel of the bridge. I do a lot of palm mutes and the bridge is extremely comfortable place to anchor your palm.

Wanted to replace a Crome, three saddle, top-load bridge on a Yamaha SE200 with a new, all black bridge. In a world full of string-through bridges, this was not easy to find. After a lot of searching, I found this one at StewMac. It fit perfectly and looks and sounds spectacular. Brought my old favorite axe back to life. Very pleased.

Revitalized an old axe

Full disclosure, i bought this for the chunky metal aesthetic, to replace an old vanilla 5 screw fender style bridge on a late 70's Aria Pro. This bridge has got heft and authority. The ability to tweak the string spacing puts this over the top. I'm glad i made the change.

Nice bridge but some design and QC issues

By

This bridge works well...solid, easy to string, very adjustable, good price. Only 3 stars for a few issues. First, several of the saddle height adjustment screws were frozen in place. After inadvertently rounding off the hex wrench with a little too much torque, I had to remove the saddles and soak them in lubricating oil for a while. Second, there is a baseplate attached to the bottom of the unit. It looks like part of the unit, and there Is no documentation provided. After installing, my action was too high and I had to remove everything and start over after removing the shim. Lastly, (and the least issue), the intonation screws are flat head. Phillips would be a lot easier to use in this installation, since you have to remove a few saddles to install. A couple of small changes and some documentation would make this a better unit.

Clanking Sound No More

By

I put this bridge on a Modern Player Tele that I also put a Rose Wood 21 fret Mighty Mite neck on, & before these two alterations, this tele was nothing but a clank of string noise: not rattles or busses -- those are typically easy to adjust away; however, this was a clanking string noise that must have been in my imagination, before I made these alteration, & now, I am no longer imagining these clanking's -- that nobody heard or believe existed in the first place - sort of strange, it all will & fine for some to change or question the factory setting, while if others ask question them, they're immediately consider wrong.

This bridge & new mighty mite neck did something else too. After I filed, the adjustment screw for the g string & b string a bit shorter -- it is the fist time since I own this tele modern player that I actually like playing it: no clanking string noise & it stays in tune. So yeah I love this bridge; it made a guitar that was horrible to play because of the string clanking noise into my favorite guitar to play, for the body always has a good sound albeit it was difficult to tell through all the string noise that was in my imagination.

Got this for my wide neck Big Lou Cobra. Never had much use for a wham. Had to have the side to side for the wider string spacing. Worked out great!
