This traditional 3-piece Fairbanks tone ring design from the late 1800s gives clear, rich old-time sound for open-back banjo.
The Five-Star Whyte Laydie consists of a round steel tone hoop resting on a scalloped brass ring, held in place by a thin spun-brass outer sleeve. 11" (279.40mm) diameter, nickel-plated.
A high crown or medium crown banjo head is usually required for this tone ring.
For optimum fit, measure the tone ring with a dial caliper before lathe-turning your wood rim.
