Economy Covered Gear 3+3 Tuners

About This Item

Sometimes you simply need basic tuners that work! For 3+3 pegheads.

• 14:1 ratio
• Fit 5/16"-diameter pegholes
• Press-fit bushings and screws included
• Set of 6
• Chrome

Installation Tips

Bushings: We recommend the Standard Peghole Reamer to cut smooth, perfectly round holes.

Mounting screws: Pilot holes required. Installing delicate screws into hard wood requires great care and accuracy. We highly recommend the #1711 Depth-stop Drill Bit (No.50 bit) for the pilot hole before installing these screws. Lubricate the screw threads with cutting lubricant (also wax or a bar of soap) to reduce friction and help them thread properly.

Purchased for a fixer upper

By

Verified Buyer

I purchased two sets of these for a couple vintage Japanese fixer uppers. While these tuners are fine and installed with no mods on the two guitars, I wish now I had spent the extra $9 for the Golden Age tuners as I have used them before. That's not to say these are bad tuners but I quickly found out the two fixer uppers were much better guitars than I originally expected them to be. So consequently they deserved better and the Golden Age tuners would have been the smarter choice for the measly $9 upcharge. Needless to say I will order the Golden Age from here on out given the jump in quality and feel for not much more money. To be clear, if you either on a VERY tight budget OR you know for a fact the guitar simply isn't worth the extra $9 these tuners will fine but not great.

Big improvement

By

These fit a 1970s Korean made acoustic guitar. They fit perfectly. They look similar but are not an exact match for the original tuning machines. Close enough for me. They are a huge improvement over the stiff, deteriorated originals. When one of the buttons broke on the originals, it was my cue to replace all of the tuners. If I had known how much better these were, I would have done it sooner. They are not top of the line, but they don't need to be.

Vintage Japanese Les Paul Replacement

By

Verified Buyer

I wanted a set of new tuners for my vintage Japanese Les Paul but didn't want to have to drill any holes or open any holes up bigger in case I wanted to return it to factory in the future. These tuners did the trick! The guitar plays as well as can be expected given the quality of the instrument and the age. These tuners are easy to turn and the guitar holds tune FAR better than it did with the original tuners! Thanks StewMac!

Perfect for 12-string acoustic upgrade.

I used two sets of these to replace machines on an old twelve-string. One of my first guitars. The smaller, oval tuning knobs are the perfect size for the crowded twelve-string spacing. Perfect fit to existing screw holes. Highly recommended and economical solution to upgrading old hardware.

Had a rattling machine head on a Lyle Gibson Hummingbird copy. Works great at a low cost.
