Gotoh Vintage Deluxe 3-On-Plate Tuners

About This Item

For solid pegheads. Direct-replacement steel-string tuners with vintage-style stamped plates and white plastic knobs.

Nickel plated, with nylon internal bushings for smooth operation. Complete set of 3-left, 3-right include press-fit peghead bushings and mounting screws.

15:1 ratio
1-3/8" string post spacing
11/32"-diameter pegholes required

Installation Tips

Bushings: We recommend the #2062 Bushing Reamer (.340" diameter) to cut a clean, accurate counterbore for a professional job. Fit the press-fit tuner bushings correctly so your tuners will work smoothly.

Mounting screws: Pilot holes required. Installing delicate screws into hard wood requires great care and accuracy. We highly recommend the #1713 Depth-stop Drill Bit (No.44 bit) for the pilot hole before installing these screws. Lubricate the screw threads with cutting lubricant (also wax or a bar of soap) to reduce friction and help them thread properly.

Good Tuners

By

Verified Buyer

I purchased these to replace the tuners on a Silvertone Artist lap steel guitar (circa late 1950's?). They fit PERFECTLY! I half expected there to be some interference between the posts and the holes in the headstock, but that was not the case Even the mounting screw holes lined up with the existing! The existing bushings must have been pressed in and I didn't want to risk damaging the headstock finish, so I left them in place and didn't bother installing the new ones. Couldn't be happier. Now I've got to get to work learning how to play lap steel guitar!

Great Guitar Replacement Parts

By

Verified Buyer

On the Internet, I could not find the exact tuning machines for my fifty-year old Gibson Blue Ridge. I called Stewmac and got a gentleman who furnished the information needed to find the parts on their web site.

I ordered the parts. They perfectly fit the instrument, matched the originals, were promptly delivered, and I replaced them in about thirty minutes.

This saved me from a trip to a guitar shop and I am perfectly satisfied with the parts and the great service rendered.

Sincerely,

Bill

Fit my '62 Melody Maker fine

Used the original bushings because I didn't want to enlarge the holes for the ribbed bushings that came with the tuners. Not a big problem. Dropped right in, no need to address the mounting screw holes at all.

New tuners for "vintage" 1952 Gibson LG3

So - what really mattered was the very sound advice I got from the person on the phone - measure, be sure, be careful - just good solid guidance for which I am grateful. It all worked out real well and I was disappointed to discover that the heads had been previously changed - there were filled holes underneath the plates.

Great Tuners

By

Fit very good on a 40 year old Uria acoustic. Widened top of holes just a little to help get inserts easily started and used a press to easily insert them. Couple of mounting screw holes were off but drilled new holes and it was done. Works great with much higher turning ratio.

Replacement Tuners

By

I was happy to find an exact replacement set of tuners for my 1959 Kay Pacer. The old set didn't have the bushings so I decided to leave it as the stock tuners and will keep the bushings. Changing the pots and switch in the next order.

So glad to find these

Thanks to StewMac I was able to restore a very old Kay acoustic that had been my grandfather's (at least we think it's a Kay). The old knobs had disintegrated. These Gotohs were a precise match aesthetically and operationally. No new drilling, no difference between where the old and new plates sat on the headstock. I even used the original screws instead of the new ones provided. In 20 mins this guitar was back in tune-able condition.

Exact replacements for my 1969 Gibson J-40, no problem to install. The brown shoe polish trick works.

I used these on a vintage Gibson restoration and they fit perfectly, right down to the "Deluxe" emblem stamped on the back. Very nicely made from heavy stock.
