2-in-1 Precision + Notched Straightedge

About This Item

Our new 2-in-1 Precision Straightedge is the perfect tool for more accurate and faster setups. We took two of our most popular tools, the Precision Straightedge and the Precision Notched Straightedge and combined them to create the most accurate dual sided straightedge on the market—at an incredible value. You get two precise, professional, American-crafted tools for the price of one.

We see many different straightedges come on the market (most based on our original design), that sacrifice quality for price—but as you know, a straightedge is one tool where "good enough" simply isn't "good enough." Often .001" can make the difference between annoying buzzes and a perfectly setup guitar.

That's why you need a tool that has a dead flat edge you can depend on. For accurate setup work and building, it's essential to determine the flatness of your fingerboard and know with absolute confidence your frets are level.

One tool, two sides, endless uses
With our 2-in-1 Precision Straightedge you can instantly:

  • Check the flatness of your fingerboard
  • Check if frets are level
  • Quickly measure neck relief
  • Determine if truss rod adjustments are necessary
  • Locate problem areas
  • Find high frets
  • Determine if surfaces are flat

Whether you're building a new instrument, repairing a vintage heirloom, or tuning up your favorite daily player, this straightedge gives you the biggest bang for your buck possible.

Pick the model that is right for you!

Helped me setup my PRS with Ease

I bought the short scale version to do the neck relief on my PRS S2 Custom 24, and worked exactly as expected. My neck is straight and my action low!

I also like the fact the this has a thicker middle section (lengthwise) which helps you grip it better.

Overall, a great tool.

The most useful tool for determining the bow of necks

By

Verified Buyer

For me, a pure straightedge was not useful in determining the bow of necks to see if and how much a truss rod adjustment is necessary. But the notched straightedge takes frets out of the equation, so you can clearly see how much the neck is bent.

I just wish they made the long scale on one side and the short scale on the other, because I ended up buying both!

I have used this ruler on my main two guitars. This takes the guesswork out of set up. It gives me confidence on my set up and playing.

Great tool but why not more versatile

By

Bought the long version 25.5 scale. Works on strats and Ibanez 24 fret models if placed at 2nd fret. Does not fit PRS scale it w ill require a bit of routing. Why not rout this to fit all scales it will still be perfectly flat and make it longer for 24 fret guitars. It fits my american strat and Ibanez well 25.5 but does need notching for 25 or 24.75 scale fret boards. But its a must have tool well built straight edge with fret notching. Please make this wider it would be possible to damage the fretboard without perfect use. Its amust have tool thats immediately shows its quality

Excellent tool. Can pickup the slightest bow in the neck and allow you to adjust the truss rod perfectly to your liking.

The price may seem like a punishment here. It's not. And here's why; innovation. If you watch while you're shopping, when Stew-Mac comes out with a new tool, other companies start to copy it. Cheap imitations. The folks at Stew-Mac listen when someone says, "I wish I had this" or "I'd like this better if.." . This straightedge was thought up, designed, and made here in the U.S. I ordered three straightedges from three different places and sent two back. This is a far superior machinists tool that I expect to last a very long time. Only thing I will say is be careful with the corners on this thing while you're using it. It would not take much to turn a fret level job into a gouge repair! Still a fine tool!
