Blush Eraser

About This Item

Eliminates the white clouding that appears when moisture is trapped in a new finish. Also useful for finish touch-up and repair.

When you spray a finish in humid conditions, a "blushed" (whitened) surface can occur when moisture becomes trapped in the finish. As soon as the blush appears, use Aerosol Blush Eraser to reflow the surface and free the trapped moisture. It preserves the clarity of the finish, and helps "melt-in" overspray after spot finish repairs, too. For use with nitrocellulose lacquer finishes only.

Formally labeled as Behlen.

13-ounce aerosol spray can.

What humidity?

By

Verified Buyer

I live in Florida and don’t have an air conditioned spray booth. So I have to spray outside. And it’s been really humid in the daytime. So I have to try and shoot for early morning when the humidity is still fairly low. 78-84% humidity.
I was horrified, the first sanding lacquer I applied, an area got that milky white coating.
I started with a blowdryer, a microfiber towel and a lot of patience.
I immediately checked StewMac to see what was their solution. Found this blush eraser.
It works like magic!
I recommend this product to add to your arsenal of finishing products.

Great for blush removal

I was having issues with clear laquer fogging. This blush remover works like a charm! I have used it as flash coat between clear coats and it smooths things out nicely. It has to be very light coats because it is thin and will run!!!

This saved my LP Style Dark Back

By

Was on the next to last round of clear coats on Stewmac LP kit with gold top & dark tobacco brown back. Ended up with a cloudy mess spaying the back in the Texas humid heat. One very thin spray of the blush eraser and it quickly turned into a clean high gloss finish. Smoothed out some other imperfections too. Here are the before and after pics. The before pic was much worse than the picture.

This stuff really works

My daughter spilled a cup of hot tea on our side table. It created a huge white cloud. I bought this in hopes that it would erase it, and I'm amazed at how well it worked. The entire cloud disappeared on the first application!

I tried this product based partially on reviews from others experiences. It performed as described - it really works well and it doesn’t take much to do the trick! The hazy finish cleared up quickly. Thanks Stew Mac for another great product!

Magic

In addition to doing a great job of removing humidity-related blush, it is also very good for smoothing out imperfections in your spray pattern. I'm using Preval sprayers on my current guitar and find it difficult to get a well-atomized, even spray with them, so I hit the guitar with a shot of Blush Eraser after each coat to even it out. Helps quite a bit.

Saved from the haze!

By

Verified Buyer

I had applied about 10 clear coats of nitrocellulose lacquer aerosol, and noticed that at the end of some cans, I would get a hazy finish. Then, the hazy finish happened when applying a coat from a fresh can. In retrospect, I believe the humidity had significantly increased during the days from the first coat to the tenth. I was spraying outside, so it was probably the humidity that caused the whitish, hazy look. Blush Eraser immediately cleared up the haze. After applying the 11th and 12th clear coats, I used Blush Eraser again as a flash coat. It worked perfectly! If you have to finish your guitars in a humid environment, this stuff can save your bacon.
