The Dremel is a workhorse for routing inlay cavities, bridge saddle slots, purfling channels, and lots of other precision tasks.

The Dremel 4000 is part of a complete outfit that includes 30 accessories, 2 attachments (circle cutter and sanding guide). Comfortable to hold in any grip position, the Dremel is adjustable from 5,000 to 35,000 rpm. Everything fits into a sturdy molded storage case for fast, convenient transport and access.

perfect for trimming bone saddles

I just love mine. I use it to save lots of time trimming bone material. I do a final sanding using sandpaper taped to my bench for a flat bottom for saddles, and files to shape it once its close to the size I need. Waaaaay faster than trying to do all of the trimming/cutting/rough shaping with sandpaper. I don't have room for a belt sander in my shop.

I build and repair, and originally bought this for a single specific use along with the stewmac router base. Boy was I wrong. This combo has more uses than I had ever imagined. Regardless of your skill level, you NEED this tool. It's truly amazing to me how many uses I have found. It comes with a circle cutter, so you can cut rosette rings as well. I even bought some metal cutting discs for it to make truss rods. When repairing, I use it with the base to remove glue and finish from under the bridge when doing a bridge reglue. Best $100 I ever spent.

Dremels are great little tools at a great price. These are accurate enough for most jobs but if you MUST have extreme accuracy (crazy inlays) then Foredom is the way to go. I can use my dremel for everything I will ever need (fingers crossed now). Make sure you give your dremel a brake every few minutes so she doesn't crap out on ya, especially with the flex shaft!
