On/Off Footswitch

About This Item

A basic on/off footswitch for hands-free operation when using routers, saws, sanders, or any power tool.

2-step operation: step to turn on, step to turn off. Keep both your hands on the tool instead of reaching for the power switch. Great when using a Dremel or Foredom for inlay projects.

Made of high-impact ABS plastic, this footswitch measures 3.5" x 7" (89mm x 178mm) and includes a 7 foot (213cm) power cord.

For 115V AC, 15 amp machines. Plug your machine into the footswitch, then plug the cord of the footswitch into the wall.

Remote Access

I use the Footswitch in conjunction with a Fein model: 9.55.13 shop vacuum. This vacuum has an outlet to plug in a power tool so that the vacuum comes on when you use the tool. The Footswitch allows remote access to turn on the vacuum without going back to the switch on the machine. I can move the switch as I go from one work set-up to another.

A must have for switching on/off machines like routers leaving both hands free

Good for safety

The essential thing about these on/off footswitches is the safety factor. I wouldn't say it is dangerous to turn a router on/off without one of these, but it I really do hate searching for the switch when i have to hold the router still while is stops.
I mostly use it for neck pockets and truss rod slots as both my jigs have the router underneath but it is useful for inlay work too.

Easy to install and high current

I used this to turn on an amplifier without an on/off switch. It installed easily. I like that is has hole for screwing down to the floor (which I don't need, currently). It seems to have a lot of current carrying capability. It was costly, but worth it.

Should have bought this a long time ago, frees up my hands and makes some jobs safer. It's pretty light weight so I recommend screwing it onto a pc. of plywood.
