Fret Dressing Stick with Micro-Mesh Belts

About This Item

Upgraded to Micro-Mesh!
The Fret Dressing Stick features interchangeable Micro-Mesh® sanding belts for removing the scratches left by leveling and crowning files.

This comfortable tool is spring-loaded to keep pressure on the sanding belt. A flip of your thumb rotates the belt for a fresh sanding surface. The compact size makes it ideal for fretwork. Use the grits in sequence to achieve a mirror shine on frets and hardware.

TIP: Some of us like to file a groove in the end of the stick. This way it fits over the fretwire like a crowning file.

Much more durable than traditional sandpaper, Micro-Mesh sanding belts are constructed with a thin cushion between the cloth back and the abrasive crystals. This cushion allows the crystals to align evenly and prevents random scratches in your work. Micro-Mesh crystals do not load up or generate heat the way traditional sandpaper does.

The tool measures 6-3/8" (162mm) long. The Micro-Mesh sanding belts are 1/4" (6.35mm) wide.

Works well, either by itself, or with the fret edge dressing file.

Love the fact that you can roll the paper on the stick so as you always have a clean section to use. These also was up in mineral spirits or naphtha so they will last a long time.

I retired as a career machinist and wish I'd had this tool when I was working.

Fret Dressing Stick

Simple, yet amazingly effective. If you watch one of the videos, I think it covers cutting a little notch in the end of the stick that conforms to your fret. Really helped and it is a fast way to dress up a single fret without worrying about marking up your fretboard. Each band of sandpaper is probably good for one go up and down the whole fretboard after a fret level.

Awesome Tool!

I have been using these on every fret level and crown I have done for years. They are so handy for shaping and removing scratches. It makes the job much easier. This is a must have tool if you do fret work. Plus it is so easy to use and that is huge with me as I am 62 and my hands can get cramped doing frets. It really makes a difference.

Here is a picture of a Mighty Mite neck that I did a fret level and crown too. I also did the fret ends. Having the right tool for a job is a must. It will make the end result much better.

Nice!

Had one of these for a couple years before I realized the potential. I now have more of these. They are great for fretwork. Just cut three concave notches on the end. Two on one side, spaced so that one can go between the two notches on the opposite side (as is recommended by Dan) You will be pleased with the results.

Does the job but...

Does the job removing scratches on frets but does not last that long. The abrasive part falls apart easily. The backing frays just as fast too.

I highly recommend the fret dressing sticks for many projects . The first time I purchased one I only ordered one grit of belts but I had come to find that I needed a whole set of belts for different needs . I would recommend that someone purchase the whole set and then order replacements as needed .
I do have to comment that it took a couple of days longer to receive than all of my previous orders .
