Hex Nut Hot Rod Truss Rod

About This Item

1/4" hex nut design for electric guitars and banjos. Smooth two-way action corrects upbow and backbow, giving complete control over the neck.

Easy to install. The Hot Rod® fits in a straight channel. For proper operation, this truss rod must be installed so that the active rod (the rod with the adjustment nut) is below the passive rod. A wooden filler stick is not required.

Our Hot Rod neck adjustment system features twin rods in threaded brass collars. The stainless steel active rod turns for smooth neck alignment, with 2-way action. The Hot Rod requires an access cavity for the adjustment nut, and a straight 7/32"-wide x 7/16"-deep slot (measured from the bottom of the fretboard) for installation.

The 18" rod fits many electric guitars and banjos. Overall length includes the nut.

We've designed the Router Bit for Hot Rod Truss Rods especially for routing your neck to fit our truss rods.

Great rods, but check yours first.

Great rods, stupid easy to install, works great, when you get a good one. My first one had a bad nut, there was no slot for the hex nut, it was still threaded all the way to the top. Bad news, I noticed after I installed it. Good news, they way I cut my channel I was able to pull it out and slide a new one in. Great customer service from Stew Mac as usual. Now I (and you) know, one more thing to check before moving forward.

This is the only truss rod I use
Easy to install
Recommend getting the router bit for it too
Easy to adjust
Have a close look when ordering though
Slight variations in features but for much different types of necks

Too easy

Install was so simple I was sure I was doing it wrong. Center the bit to the blank on the router table, mark your stop, push it through.

Best option

This is the best version of truss rod (1/4" nut) that I have used, works well, strong nut welding, and easy for anyone to get the right tool to adjust it. I have had ridiculously bad experiences with Allen style adjustment nuts over the years in builds and repairs where they have rounded out or just snapped off. I wish this was available in a bass 24" version as well, Stewmac please consider adding that in to the lineup!

Great truss rod for custom builds

By

Used the Hot Rod for a custom Telecaster neck build, easy to install and easy to adjust. Since it is a double acting rod, it is capable of adding or subtracting neck relief. It is also VERY sensitive to to adjustments, so go easy with the wrench!

These rods are the best. I cant believe how strong they are, and how much control you get over your neck with the slightest of turns. I have never had one fail.
