Cream Pickguard Material

About This Item

A rectangular glossy PVC plastic sheet for making your own pickguards and coverplates. The right color for Gibson® guitars, this material matches our cream bindings.

Dimensions: 0.085" x 12" x 18" (2.16mm x 305mm x 457mm)

Color-matching Cream Parts and Bindings
There have always been slight variations in the color of the cream plastic parts used on Gibson and other guitars. It's not uncommon to see brand new and vintage guitars with bindings, pickup rings, toggle switch rings and pickguards that don't perfectly match in color. We do our best to match all our cream products, but there's no absolute control from batch to batch, or from supplier to supplier.

Purchased this item to make a replacement pick gaurd for a 1960's era Kay archtop electric. Had to free hand the pattern then cut it out with a dremel tool. Saved the customer alot of money! The picture is the final work mounted. Easy material to work with.

Cream pick guard plastic

Almost an exact match for the pickup rings and seems a little
tougher than typical ABS. Cuts well without melting and is
easy to work with. Great product!

Color control you can count on

Months ago, I made a replacement pickguard for a project bass. 6 months later, a change in pickup choice required some additional cavity coverage. I added a 2nd section against the existing pickguard with excellent color matching, achieving a great look, and avoiding a quilt/patch look. Shipped in perfect condition.

New pickguard for a Les Paul Deluxe

By

Verified Buyer

I was working on a 1979 Les Paul Deluxe that was missing its pickguard. Available pickguards did not fit properly around the smaller pickups, so I ordered this material to create one closer to the original. The material from StewMac was perfect: The right thickness and the right color.
I do wish, however, that they would offer a smaller sheet, maybe 1/2 or even smaller for us amateurs that may never have to make another pickguard.

Pickguard for my Epiphone ES 335 Pro

By

This pickguard material is very close (but not exactly) the same color as original Gibson Cream. I bought a set of Gibson Cream Pickup Rings for my Epiphone ES 335 Pro, and made a Pickguard from this material. Although the material is a little thinner than multi-ply, it is fine for a small ES style Guard. As you can see from the picture, the color is very close and it really changes the look of my Epi.

The right size and color at a reasonable price

After checking some other sources for a stock piece of pick guard material which was large enough to suit my custom application, Stewmac beats them all. I'm glad they exist.

Good Color Match

By

This product acceptably matched color of their other cream accessories (pup rings, knobs, binding) that I purchased for a customers Gibson renovation project. Matched at least as well as what's on an un-aged Gibson guitar that you'd buy new.
