TUSQ XL Nuts

About This Item

Self-lubricating nuts from Graph Tech are ideal for string bending and tremolo work.

Extra slippery: TUSQ XL® is impregnated with Teflon® (500% more slippery than graphite). During tremolo bends, the strings slide in the slots, returning to accurate pitch.

Dense and resonant: Pressure-formed TUSQ transfers string energy more efficiently, without dead spots found in natural materials. Guitars come alive with enhanced harmonics, volume and sustain.

Pre-shaped: Slotted or unslotted, they require only minor trimming.

Ivory color now available
Customers have asked for a white version of their favorite Black TUSQ XL. That turned out to be easier said than done, and took years to perfect, but now it's here! It looks like ivory, but won't chip or flake.

Necessary upgrade

Was doing a parts upgrade on a cheap strat with poor sustain. The nut upgrade increases the sound and sustain so much. Great buy.

Good product, great service

I like using preslotted nuts and preshaped acoustic saddles because they cut down on my labor time. I run a small tech business on the side in my spare time, and time is always at a premium.

Although there are several places I can order TUSQ products, Stew-Mac seems the only place I can find a spec on the radius of nuts and saddles. Graphtec doesn't even list those specs on their own website. For that reason alone I order these from Stew-Mac.

My only beef with Stew-Mac is a general one: shipping costs seem out of control. I am not talking about shipping potentially hazardous materials or heavy items like aerosol lacquers or a vise; shipping on small items like a nut or a set of tuning machines shouldn't cost upwards of $10. I understand that there are costs associated with envelopes/boxes and the time it takes to pack up an order, but it does seem a bit excessive. I would think that some of those costs would be figured into the retail price of the item. However, shipping costs bordering on outrageous are not unique to Stew-Mac; it seems that all of the guitar parts suppliers do the same thing.

I must say, though, that I am always satisfied with the quality of parts and the level of service that Stew-Mac provides. Keep up the good work, boys.

What can I say they are just a good product, having used these yet but have had good luck with them in the past.

Really Good nut

TUSQ XL Nuts are a must for guitars with a tremolo, they self lubricate. the Fender Nuts are almost perfect when you put them on, very little if any filling to get the correct distance at the first fret.

I was having trouble with string spacing on a bone nut blank and needed to get the guitar up and running so I got this. The nut worked well and the guitar is playing better than ever!

I’m glad a friend told me about StewMac products. This TUSQ XL NUT made this old Harmony sing again.

Perfect upgrade!

Replaced nut on Squier Strat (2000). Old nut needed some coaxing out, but this one went in like a dream...perfect fit for height, only required minimal sanding on ends. Very pleased.

Decent replacement nut

This was installed on a Squier Special Edition Strat to replace the original plastic nut. It was the right thickness but it was 1/2 mm too wide and required shaping. Also, the factory slot was cut too deep so I needed to shim the nut. Other than that, it's a great upgrade to the guitar.
