Bleached White Bone Nuts

Bleached White Bone Nuts

Bone's hardness and density contributes to good tone, it polishes well, and it allows more precise slot filing.

Stewart-MacDonald is your source for quality bone!
Bone is traditionally preferred for making nuts and saddles on quality instruments.

Blank nuts have oversize length and height, for custom shaping in your shop. They're ready for trimming, filing, sanding and slotting.

Preshaped nuts will save you a LOT of work — a head start for the novice builder, and a bonus for the busy repair shop where time is money! The dimensions have been carefully researched, and minor trimming, slotting, and sanding are all that's needed to fit most popular guitars.

I bought a saddle for a friend's 12 string. It came fast and was a perfect fit. My friend is very pleased.

These are great replacement nuts for people who play dobro or other resonator guitars.

Nice piece of bone!

I made a replacement nut for an Ibanez acoustic, and it turned out great. The blank is large enough so there's plenty of material to work with. It was wide enough to make a 5 string bass nut with, but not a problem. It was easy to cut the excess off with a saw. After shaping and sanding with 400 grit, I polished with it with a felt wheel on a Dremel. I love how natural bone polishes up to a glossy finish. Highly recommended!

Just right

These shaped Fender nuts are a bit pricey but I've always used them because they are so accurately made. They require the smallest amount of sanding to fit in the slot and are high quality, well made pieces with just the right curvature. Not at all worth my time to try and make them myself by comparison.

I use these on all my builds and repairs. I like the large size, I then cut and shape to the perfect size I need. A big improvement over plastic, for all around sound.

Replaced a plastic nut on an old MX-Z. Had to make a new truss rod cover to make it fit.

good stuff!

Working on a 1971 martin D-12-20. Last tech butchered the nut that was on it. All the string slots cantered to the bass side. I chose bone for all the obvious reasons. Great quality. I ordered a couple just to have one or two in the shop. Ah Stew mac, you've pleased me no end.
