Conductive Copper Tape

About This Item

Get rid of buzz and interference in your guitar.
Shield pickups and control cavities with this self-adhesive copper tape.

180" rolls for shielding pickups and control cavities to reduce hum, noise and radio interference. The self-adhesive backing is also conductive, so overlapped seams are electrically continuous. Wrap this tape around pickup coils for additional shielding.

Sold individually or SAVE when you buy the set of all three widths.

Conductive Copper Tape surface accepts solder.

Eazy to stick on, good glue. Makes a unexpectedly big difference with signal interference.

Used for backing on tortoise pick guard. The hot tip if you have a dark background.

Great hum blocker

Yeah look up 'Farraday's cage'. This StewMac tape is exactly right! Sticky like that Stones 1971 album; thick; easily solderable. I've even shielded the inside of a practise amp with this stuff and it stopped the hum.
Another great StewMac item, glad you are carrying this! Bot cheap, but again, simply, excellent!

Copper shielding tape

Easier to work with than I had anticipated. The only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars is that I shielded everything pretty completely, including the back of the pickguard, and even soldered wires between the different cavities and measured 0 ohms everywhere, but still my single coils generate some noticeable hum by themselves. I didn't measure it before shielding, so I don't know whether it's better or not, but it's not dead quiet.

It does the job... with caveats...

By

I like to use shielding tape in my control cavities.... This tape is very thin and tears easily as compared to other thicker tapes I've used and it's adhesive is not conductive and loses it's stickiness with just a little handling... So the product works in application and is easy to shape, however, I will look elsewhere for my next purchase of shielding tape.

Slightly difficult to use as I had heard (this was my first shielding experience) but I'd say the results were well worth the effort!
Not as intimidating as it seems

works well but watch those edges

By

This type works as advertised. It adheres well and seems to do the job. My only advice in particular is, when you're cutting a piece of tape off of the roll, watch the tape edges -- they're sharp, and gave me a deeper cut on my finger than just your usual paper cut. So be careful. But it sure seems like a good product.
