ColorTone Aerosol Finishing Set for 2-Tone Tobacco Sunburst

Spray your own 2-tone Fullerton-style tobacco sunburst
When you're looking to capture that early 2-tone tobacco sunburst you've seen countless times without complicated and expensive spray equipment, this is the set you need.

Even if you're a beginner, you'll get professional results and a finish you'll be proud of. Don't waste hours endlessly chasing a color that is not quite right, we've done the hard work for you!

Find your perfect finish!
Our R&D team spent countless hours examining vintage finishes, lacquer formulas, and endlessly testing these sets to make sure you'll get the exact color you're looking for. There are many factors in getting a finish "just right", and we've worked tirelessly to take out all of the guesswork.

Professional results at home
ColorTone nitrocellulose aerosols are designed for professional finishing, right out of the can. These aerosols are easy to apply, and perfect for new finishes or re-fins. We designed the lacquers and the spray nozzles especially for guitar finishing. Nitro lacquer is the traditional choice for fine instruments, and is what guitars from the Golden Era of the 1950s and earlier are finished with.

Everything you need to totally finish one instrument from start to finish. It's all there—from filling the pores to spraying the final clear coat. It's never been easier to get a truly flawless finish with simple to use professional-grade aerosols. We've picked the right stuff you need to get the look you want, no need to guess on what filler, color, or how much lacquer you need. It's all there and ready for you to spray your perfect finish. We've written up instructions for each set and our tech team is here to help if you have any questions.

Each 'burst is as unique as a fingerprint!
We have sets for both ash and mahogany, making it easy to get this iconic color for your new build:

12235 For Ash, with Ash grain filler
This is what a Strat should look like! The Vintage Amber highlights the unique grain of an ash body and compliments dark edges extremely well. You can make the dark edge as thick or as thin as you want, just like they sprayed them in the '50s.

2241 For Mahogany, with Mahogany grain filler
The Vintage Amber adds a rich depth to mahogany, pops the grain and really makes it shimmer. When you burst the edges, the subtle transition gives the guitar a stunning glow. Think of a Gibson® Firebird when looking for inspiration.

"I see a lot of vintage guitars in my shop. Most aerosols don't really come close to looking like the colors they are intended to. These ColorTone finishes nail the look of vintage beauties I've had on my bench."
—Erick Coleman, guitar repairman and StewMac tech advisor

Tip: Use warm lacquer for better results

Pro shops spray heated lacquer because cold lacquer spatters, requiring extra sanding. You should warm up your aerosol lacquer too, simply soak the cans in a sink of warm tap water. See our video with even more tips on how to spray a professional finish at home.
