Unbleached Bone Saddles

Unbleached Bone Saddles

Stewart-MacDonald is your source for quality bone!
Bone is traditionally favored for quality instruments. Our unbleached bone is harder than bleached white bone, and has a mottled cream vintage look. Its hardness and density contributes to good tone, it polishes well, and it allows more precise filing.

Blank saddles have oversize length and height, for custom shaping in your shop. They're ready for trimming, filing, sanding and slotting.

Shaped saddles will save you a LOT of work—a head start for the novice, and a timesaver for the busy shop. The sizes have been carefully researched, and accurately radiused, so that minor trimming, slotting, and sanding are usually all you'll need to do.

Good news: our super-hard unbleached bone saddles are available with B-string compensation too, so you'll save even more time!

Unbleached Bone Sadldles

I am using this on an Ibanez classical guitar. The thickness is perfect ,and will only have to shorten the length, and adjust the height. I’m doing this to lower the height of the strings. I bought two and plan on trying two different heights of the strings and see which improves the playability the most.

Quality Saddle

By

Verified Buyer

I bought this bone saddle for my Martin D28 Modern Deluxe as a back up to the saddle that came with the guitar which I have modified (shaved) to lower the action. I was worried I might go too low so I needed a spare if I messed up. Be advised although the new bone saddle comes pre-compensated , it is not sized to length and will need to be trimmed to (length) size. No big deal if you have your old saddle as a template. As with most things from StewMac this is top quality material.

Great quality material for replacing a damaged saddle or upgrading from cheap plastic. Sized and cut exactly as described.

Great Product, Easy to Work With Material

Perfect for my Martin 00013e. Just had to cut a little off of each end, sand the bottom a little and trim it up. To me my guitar sounds a little brighter than it did with the original saddle. I would definitely buy this again. Also, StewMac gave me a great discount.

I didn't give 5 stars because there are probably bone saddles out there someplace that are better, but I'm not sure how they would be. These are perfectly fine.

Nice saddle

The bone is even in width and height. Minor sanding will drop it into the bridge slot. It has a vintage look slightly darker than bleached bone. No voids or holes are apparent.

Seemed easy to shape

I actually used this as a blank to make a saddle for my 70s Yamaha Classical Guitar. I traced the original nut and glue the paper to this saddle. It was easy to rough shape with my Rockwell blade runner, I’m sure a scroll saw would have worked even better. I then finished sanding it to shape with 180 grit sand paper, 220 then some fret polishing paper. I also had to make the saddle thinner too. I just taped the paper to a block of wood. I think I spent about 45 minutes total making the saddle.
