Ivoroid Celluloid Binding

True vintage-style celluloid nitrate
Subtle white-on-cream grain, StewMac celluloid has the vintage quality of the earliest ivoroid instrument bindings.

StewMac celluloid bindings are 54" long (137cm)—two pieces will reach completely around one side of a guitar body.

#5597 extra-tall .565" binding is the right size for Les Paul® and similar guitar tops.

Custom Binding Installation Tips

Laminate bindings
You can sandwich strips together using our Binding Laminator and acetone. Measure carefully before you rout the channels, and almost any combination can be installed.

Binding Laminator

We recommend StewMac Bind-ALL Guitar Binding Glue for the best results when installing plastic binding, even on oily tonewoods. It has just the right amount of tackiness to keep the bindings in place while securing them to the body.

To hold the bindings in place as the glue dries, use Brown Binding Tape or Rubber Clamping Bands.

For a clean look, once the glue is dry trim the bindings flush to the surrounding wood with a Scraper Blade.
