Grover 18:1 Sta-Tite Slotted Peghead Guitar Machines

About This Item

Grover Sta-Tite™ tuners are a modern version of a vintage design. For 3-left/3-right slotted pegheads. For steel-string guitars.

Each tuner features 18:1 gear ratio for fine tuning, a cast baseplate, vintage style scalloped knobs, and nylon worm bearings and tension screw for smooth operation.

Set of 6 (3-left/3-right) with mounting screws. String posts are 1/4" (6.32mm) diameter.

Also available for solid pegheads.

Installation Tips

Mounting screws: Pilot holes required. Installing delicate screws into hard wood requires great care and accuracy. We highly recommend the #1711 Depth-stop Drill Bit (No.50 bit) for the pilot hole before installing these screws. Lubricate the screw threads with cutting lubricant (also wax or a bar of soap) to reduce friction and help them thread properly.

A good, cost effective upgrade from stock tuners

By

Verified Buyer

I used these Grover tuners to replace the stock tuning machines on a $400 Ibanez parlor guitar, a no-name set just not up to my standards for decent performing tuners. The Grovers are a big improvement, they're heftier and they perform flawlessly. I consider this upgrade a justifiable, cost effective solution to creaky and cranky factory machines. My two Epiphone guitars came stock with Grover tuners, and all three sets of Grovers are smooth performing, solid and work quite well.

Maybe its just me...

I have used these on several builds. Some bought here, and some elsewhere. Most of them have too much play in the gears for my taste. Some up to 1/8 turn. Stewmac has been very good about sending me a replacement set in the past, but I keep encountering the same issue. I don't feel good about handing over a guitar to a customer like this. The first thing they do is tune up and encounter this. Definitely degrades the first impression. But they just look so good!

Stays in tune

By

I used these tuners as replacement for the set on my Republic parlor steel guitar and am very happy with their efficient service. The guitar now stays in tune. I only needed to slightly enlarge 2 of the pin holes. Highly recommended and great service from StewMac.

Not for all slotted headstocks

By

Verified Buyer

The shaft on these are almost a full 1/8" longer than on the Waverleys. To make the 2 at the nut fit my 1931 Duolian, I had to grind off a heavy 1/16" or else they hit in the middle. You need a minimum 2 1/4" headstock width for these to work. Other than that, they are great.
