Conductive Shielding Paint

About This Item

Reduces hum, noise and radio interference.
The fastest and easiest way to shield pickup and control cavities. Perfect for tight spots.

When connected to electrical ground, the shielded surfaces help reduce noise, hum and radio interference. It cleans up with water while still wet, and dries overnight.

Brush on two or more coats of this waterbase dark gray conductive paint for best results (let dry between coats). Conductive shielding paint is supplied in a 1/2-pint can, sufficient for shielding several electric guitars, and in a money-saving 1-pint can. We recommend our conductive tape for best results when shielding smooth plastic pickguards.

This is the good stuff. Goes on fast & easy. Stewart-McDonald has the best products for all types of musical equipment. Love their educational videos as well.

Second can

By

Verified Buyer

This is my second can. The first worked very well for several guitars and I wanted to start off with a fresh can. Following the directions is simple and straight forward and does a good job. I prefer this method to using copper adhesive. Like most of StewMax products you get what you pay for.

Easy to use, but mix it well

By

This product is easy to use and should be effective in most circumstances, but be sure to absolutely mix it to death to insure that the "stuff" that does the work is fully suspended in the paint carrier. It's a pretty hard lump when first delivered and if not fully incorporated, there will be little or no shielding. As an added benefit, the black color in the recesses helps to make them disappear in many guitar designs.

Conductive Shielding paint

I use this on every electric guitar I work on. Between this and copper or aluminum shielding for the pick guard it helps keep down all unwanted electronic feed back. Excellent product.

Easy peesy lemon squeezy

Took my time, ended up putting on 5 coats total. Let dry overnight between coats. Sure enough, cut down on the 60 cycle hum dramatically. So simple to use, highly recommended to others. Arrived quick too!!!

Great!

This is much easier than using copper shielding, in my opinion. You do need to take the time to use three coats 24 hours apart, but that shouldn't be an issue if you organize your project and time accordingly. I would note that even though I rotated the can 24 hours before use, the pigment, and presumably the conductive ingredients, clump together at the bottom and on the sides of the can. You need to stir and mix this thoroughly before use if you want good results (do not shake the can). Clean up is easy with soap and water. I got he small can and it appears to be enough for at least 6 to 10 projects. I'm not going back to copper anytime soon.

It's OK

It's ok to use it but I don't use it anymore now. It will dry up if you keep it for a long time even with the tin cap tight close. I use copper tape now for better conductivity shielding.

Works great on guitars!

I but build guitars and amps and tried it on both. It didn't do much for 60 cycle hum on the amp that lacked shielding, but It worked perfectly on my Telecasters and strats that I build with single coils, espicailly the the 60 cycle hum. The small can will coat the inside of a small amp, plus a few guitars. I would highly recommend this for single coil guitars, so the whole electronics cavity.
