Great little magnets.

I use these to convert minibuckers that are posing as Firebirds. It's a easy mod and makes those pickups sound so much better, like a real Firebird pickup.

A2 sweetness

After searching for a decent Firebird replacement pickup I found a set but they had A5 magnets. I'm not the biggest fan of A5 magnets, especially in the bridge position.

Before I purchased these I ground down a set of A2 humbucker magnets for the Bridge and A3 humbucker magnets for the neck and I finally had my dream set.

Finding these A2 mini magnets from Stew-Mac was perfect timing as I had a set of 3 of the same pickups built for me for another guitar and they topped off what I needed in the bridge & middle. I didn't like them in the neck though, so I used the original A5 and under-wound the coils to get the sound I was after. I just wish A3 magnets were made so I could have used them straight off the bat.

All in all well worth it if you're like me and don't really go for the A5 or even ceramic magnets commonly used today.

I was surprised that I could even get some Fender type spank out of them as well, which actually made me happy as I have a 6 way switching system that on half of the switch acts like the in between setting on a stratocaster 5 way switch. Best of both worlds.

Go now and start tinkering, there's no more time for this computer music.

I could be wrong but I believe the original Firebirds had A2 magnets.
