Emerson Pro CTS Blender/No-load Pot

About This Item

Expand your tonal range!
Smoothly blend your pickups into your sound or remove the tone control entirely, giving your Strat the raw output of a "no-load" pot.

Seamless, intuitive blending
The Emerson Pro CTS Blender Pot has a custom audio taper specially designed for smooth and accurate response. Wire it to replace your Strat® middle pickup tone control, and smoothly blend your neck or bridge pickup into the mix at the 1, 2, 4 and 5 switch positions.

Get raw "no-load" sound
Add a full-throttle, no-load option by replacing your tone pot. Dial this pot up to 10, and it's removed from the circuit completely. Hear the full presence of your pickups, unaffected by loss of highs from your tone circuit. The capacitor and the pot are added back in smoothly as you roll off the control. The Pro Blender/No-load Pot has no detent, so the feel is click-free. This requires no special wiring, simply swap the pots.

Low drag, tight tolerance and smooth taper.
  • Long-life brass shaft and bushing
  • 10% tolerance
  • 250K-ohm custom audio taper
  • Developed by Emerson in cooperation with CTS

"Pro CTS pots from Emerson Custom were designed to be the premium choice for the discerning guitarist looking for optimum performance. They feature a longer-life brass shaft and bushing, and a tighter resistance tolerance. Each and every Emerson Pro CTS pot is hand tested to ensure that it meets or exceeds our stated tolerances for smooth and accurate response."
—Mitch Ingram, Emerson Custom Guitar

"I use Emerson Pro CTS pots and really like the way they perform. No sudden jumps or cuts as you turn the dial. They're easier to turn, giving you faster control. The bottom of the pot has the vintage look, too."
—Erick Coleman, repairman and StewMac tech advisor

Happily Surprised. The ability to blend neck and bridge on my Strat gave me this really rich depth in tone. Other reviewers of this type of set up said that you would not get a tele sound but what they failed to point out is that while it will not sound like a tele, it WILL sound very very good. If I want a tele I'll grab it if I want a pure Strat quack then No-load on 10. If I want a sweet quack w/ depth then blend. Very happy. Purchased two and so I have one in reserve for the next Strat I get. To each their own but this is magic to me.

Great pot for tone

I installed this in a Korean PRS Soapbar (P90 pups) on the tone position. You can clearly hear two different sounds. With the pot on the 10 position, you get an extra amount of highs and the guitar sings. With it on the 9 position, you still get plenty of highs, but not glassy. This guitar also features a treble bleed, which preserves the highs all along.

A Strat's best friend

I always use one of these to blend the front and back pickups on a Strat. They are no load and no detent so if you want that wide open sound available this might be the ticket for tone and volume controls as well.

Should work on my 2 knob PRS SE, too!

I plan to drill a hole between the two pots to mount this pot. Wired between the 2 pickup leads on the selector switch it should work lie positions 1 & 5 on strat, allowing me full blending between the two pickups.

With a simple install, my strat sounds like a new instrument. The ability to blend different pickup configurations is such a rad tool.

Much love for this part and for the quickness of StewMac of getting it to me.

Great idea.

I've installed these in four guitars now, and they're a nicely made pot. In no-load mode the difference is very audible, and players seem really enthused by the idea.

get two, 1 for each funktion

Got one for the blender funktion, and I got a nother one for the no load funktion. Installed them on an American Special Strat. It came w stock cts and texas specials that sounded great, I wasnt even gonna mod it at all. But, I decided to give these blender/no loads a try. The blender works as advertised(awesome). And the no load master tone turned all the way up, lets all the presence from the pickups shine through. and you can still roll it back (1-9) like a normal tone pot.
