TUSQ XL Nuts

About This Item

Self-lubricating nuts from Graph Tech are ideal for string bending and tremolo work.

Extra slippery: TUSQ XL® is impregnated with Teflon® (500% more slippery than graphite). During tremolo bends, the strings slide in the slots, returning to accurate pitch.

Dense and resonant: Pressure-formed TUSQ transfers string energy more efficiently, without dead spots found in natural materials. Guitars come alive with enhanced harmonics, volume and sustain.

Pre-shaped: Slotted or unslotted, they require only minor trimming.

Ivory color now available
Customers have asked for a white version of their favorite Black TUSQ XL. That turned out to be easier said than done, and took years to perfect, but now it's here! It looks like ivory, but won't chip or flake.

Decent replacement nut

By

Verified Buyer

This was installed on a Squier Special Edition Strat to replace the original plastic nut. It was the right thickness but it was 1/2 mm too wide and required shaping. Also, the factory slot was cut too deep so I needed to shim the nut. Other than that, it's a great upgrade to the guitar.

Fit perfectly into 2 Mustangs and a Stratocaster. Very small amount of filing and polishing to match up to my neck widths, and just a small quick round over to finish up. Tried and true Tusq Nuts are a blessing!

Great poduct!

I luv the Tusq XL nuts, even on a non whammy bar guitar, they are far superior in my humble opinion. I use these on all my guitars whether whammy bar or not, they stay in tune better, and seem to sound every bit as good as bone. I have lots of bone blanks, and know how to cut a new nut from a blank. But I prefer these. I sometimes I buy the ones that are just little blanks with no notches as well.

These nuts make a huge difference !

I don’t usually have to change nuts on my guitars so when my high e string started to do a sitar sound I took it to a local shop to be replaced, well they did a nice enough job but they left the action a bit too high at the nut. So I lowered it by taking the nut out and sanding down the bottom side. This then started a squeal in the amp. So I ordered a new nut, a tusk with the Teflon, and some nut files from stew Mac. Well I finally got everything worked out in my head how much I needed to file and lowered everything to where it needed to be. Wow, sounds great now, plays great and no squeal.

Works very well

I bought this nut for a hybred Tele/Strat type of Guitar. It was not an actual Fender. So expected it to be a bit more difficult to install. It was but not bad the material is easy to work with it just took some time to get a good fit. It was slightly narrower than the original nut. I had nothing to shim it with that I felt was substantial and thin enough so I mounted it with a slight cantor toward the bridge. Due to the situation i used super glue just not much and it worked out fine. It solved my going out of tune after using tremolo problem and lined up the strings better than ever. Perfect. I also got a bit more sustain although maybe not as much as if it had fit the slot tightly. Overall I am very pleased and quite glad I made the change. Much better than the plastic it replaced. Thanks to to the StewMac video and instructions.
