My favorite pots!

By

I love these pots, and have been using them for a little over a year on my axes, as well as many of my professional clients. I have quite a few well-traveled punk and metal guitarists that sweat acid, shed dirt, and play pickup football games with their guitar as the ball (I'm exaggerating, but their guitars look like that's the case), and replacing their components regularly is expensive. I started using Super Pots on these particular axemen and I haven't yet had to replace a single Super Pot yet.

I love the feel of the sweep, and IMO it's perfect; It gives solid resistance to prevent accidental nudging, but still spins smoothly and easily. The taper sounds very nice and even. The only thing that some folks may take issue with is that the red portion of the housing is non-conductive plastic and, obviously, the consequence is that mounting them in a shielded cavity does not automatically result in electrical continuity between the chassis of the pot(s) and other components. If you want the chassis grounded together you will have to manually run the lead, but that's no issue at all. As all techs know, there's no such thing as a one-size-fits-all approach.

They aren't cheap; These here are pots you pay a premium for because you get a well-designed, well-built premium product. But I tell ya, if Dunlop made No-Load and DPDT Push-Pull variants of these pots then I'd hardly ever use anything else.

Nothing Super IMO

Okay I had to try the lastest super thing and I’m unimpressed. These pots don’t ground to a foil lined cavity. Why is this so??? I had to run a separate ground wire for each of the 3-250K pots. Other than that they’re okay. I'll go back to CTS next time.

Finally reasonably priced sealed pots !

In the old days ( early 70s ) if you wanted sealed pots you had to buy giant Allen Bradley pots which were very expensive and hard to find in audio taper , as were most of the industrial potentiometers . These Super Pots fit just like regular potentiometers and will keep you from ever having to have them cleaned out and they’ll never make noise . So if ya want quiet pots , that will stay that way , and save a trip to you’re repairman get thease . ( been a repairman and Luthier since 72 )

These are awesome

These are the best pots out there. The backs are easy to solder to (no scraping the pot with a x-acto) and feel very solid. Even better, they pots have a little extra friction so they don't move when I accidentally bump them when playing.

Feel very sturdy

I bought 2 for a new build. They feel tight and solid but for the money they should measure closer to 500k. Mine measured 460k and 470k. If they had measured closer I would have rated them a 4. No 5 because the lock washer is worthless. It only gripps on one side?? I threw it away and used my own.

A cut above

Dunlop pots are a cut above all the other ones I have used. They are so very smooth in operation, and stay where you set them.
