About This Item

When you can't buy it, BUILD IT

StewMac has partnered with boutique pedal maker EarthQuaker Devices to create a line of DIY kits—replicas of discontinued pedals that have been out of production for some time, but now you can build your own!

We provide the top quality components and illustrated instructions, now you make all the connections and personalize the enclosure for your one-of-a-kind look.

  • Genuine EarthQuaker Devices circuits and components
  • Easy StewMac instructions and tech support

The Disaster Transport replicates the otherworldly effects of old-school tape echo and delay pedals, with all their warmth and weirdness and none of the sterile synthetic tone of other modern delays. Plus, it's modulation feature transports your tones to the edges of the universe!

  • Analog-voiced digital delay
  • All-analog dry signal path
  • Modulation control switch
  • 625ms delay time
  • True Bypass

This incredible pedal's 6-pack of tone-bending knobs creates sounds that no one has ever heard before—it's a sound-sculpting machine with infinite possibilities.

Choose your desired sound with the unique Tone control that also serves as a noise filter on longer delay settings and really makes the delay come alive, even with a dirty tone. The Mix control boosts the effected signal to nearly 4x the original level. The Rate knob takes the modulation which ranges from a subtle pitch-shifting wobble to an ultra-fast tremolo. And, there's a handy LED to give you a visual readout of the modulation rate.

Mix - Sets the level of output for the effected signal (like a gain/master volume control for the delay line)
Tone - Controls the darkness and brightness of the tone signal
Time - Adjusts the delay signal time from approximately 30ms to 625ms
Repeats - Sets the range of delay line regenerations - from one repeat to full-on self-oscillation
Depth - Controls the depth of modulation to the delay line
Rate - Adjusts the speed rate of modulation

Our DIY kit includes:
Metal pedal enclosure
Circuit board
Control knobs
Stomp switches
Input/Output jacks
Op-amp and socket
LED + LED mounting bezel
DC power connector
Ribbon cable and wire

This pedal requires a standard 9V DC center-negative power supply (not included) and consumes less than 100mA. There's no battery option.

A test for tyros.

The shipping time was very fast and the kit was packed in a very careful way. The instructions manual was very clear, precise and very very helpful. However this been my first experience with a kit, there are some points that must be mention. You will need extra wiring because you will have to cut the leading wires a little bit longer. I had a hard... very hard time soldering the connections to the Modulate and Bypass switches because when you try to solder the lead wires to some of the the lugs of the switches, you find out that your wires are to short. ( I had to improvise adding a short section of extra wire to get access to namely lugs no. 2, 3 and 5 on the by-pass switch and lug no. 5 on the modulate switch. I had to almost disassemble one of the pots from the board when one of the leads broke out from the board.)
Even though there was a lot of patience practice, mantra chanting deep breathing and head scratching, it was very fun and very rewarding to see the finish job.It took me about 3 to 4 days working about 2 to 3 hours a day given my lack of experience and a bad case of shaking hands (asthma medication). Not bad for 65 years old learner.

Thank you for the entertainment and the gratifying experience StewMak. Looking forward to build more of your kits in the future.
Next one.... A guitar

Great time building this!

these kits were my first foray into building guitar pedals and I've had a lot of fun doing so! I have now ordered three to build for myself and friends. The directions were super clear for a novice like myself. the only thing I'd advise other builders would be to maybe order a little extra wire in case you cut a piece slightly too short, as the leads can be very close. I even ordered extra knobs and LEDs to further customize it. very exciting stuff!

great pedal

a lot of fun playing with this thing. small parts and board so will need some pretty good soldering skill and good eyes. ;-) The instructions are good and the pedal works great. wish it came with a decal or sticker for the face but the pedal itself is good.
