CTS Push-pull Pots, DPDT

About This Item

Add a switch without adding a hole. Sized to fit more guitars.
On these top quality CTS control pots, the switch contacts are on the side, not the back. This makes them shorter, so they'll fit most guitars without routing—only 1" cavity depth is needed.

The double-pole double-throw switch adds lots of wiring options. Pull the knob to coil-cut a humbucker, switch a pickup in/out, or control anything: the switch is electrically separate from the control pot.

CTS pots have long been the first choice in American guitars. CTS worked with StewMac to create these unique control pots. In addition to their space-saving size, they feature a longer-life brass shaft and tighter ±10% resistance tolerance compared to CTS products offered elsewhere.

Their precision audio taper gives smoother, more accurate response than you'll get with economy pots. The volume swells evenly from 0 to 10, with no abrupt changes.

Available with split shaft for fine-knurled (24-spline) knob, or with smooth shaft to fit a set-screw knob. The long shaft #0229 fits Les Paul® and other carved-top solidbodies.

Each CTS pot includes a flat washer, lock washer, and two hex mounting nuts for custom height adjustment on a pickguard or control plate.

Which pot value should you choose?
500K pots are standard controls for humbuckers, and 250Ks are usually used for single-coil pickups. A 250K gives a slightly warmer tone than a 500K, and bleeds off (attenuates) some of the high frequencies to ground.

Replacement Mounting Nuts and Lock Washers are also available.

Well, this is my first time using CTS pots for any of my builds.. I have good hopes, since I've heard so much about them... StewMac provided me the chance to use these, with their low price... Hopefully, more to come..

CTS pots rule

These pots are smooth, and have a linear taper. The switch is super handy for coil-tapping, series/parallel, or whatever else you want to do.

Excellent push-pull pots but...

Love these pots. They're big, which I like. Just be careful when you wire them that you don't push the wire too far into the holes, as this can cause hard-to-see solder bridges or unwanted connections to ground.

Great for switching

Very smooth action.

For a PRS custom, you probably don't need the long ones, just the regular length. The solder holes are much larger than what you need with fine gauge pickup leads, but work well for split/parallel switching.

Easiest pot to work with once you learn the ropes!

I found the control wiring to be difficult at first since most of the wiring guides I follow fit the "2 columns of 3" posts diagram. But once you decode things (and the wire color codes that need regulation), the actual soldering points are much more favorable once tinned. Just heat them, stick your wire, and hold until solid. The joints will be out of the way as well which cuts down the probability of the connections being damaged. If you have an accurate soldering iron, I highly recommend these push/pull pots over any other.

Wrong part for an es-335 guitar.

By

Verified Buyer

I did not find anything that said these pots won't fit an es-335 so I ordered them. When I tried to fit one through the f hole, the body was too wide. I requested return info and a replacement part that fits. Instead, my case was recommended to a Stew Mac tech who said to remove a pick up and install the pot through there. I thanked them for the help before removing the pick up and finding even a smaller hole through the center block only big enough for the pick up wire. I bought the right parts on e-bay.

Response from StewMac

Great design

By

I love the design of these push-pull pots. The design of holes instead of tabs allows the control cavity to be cleaner. So if you're cramped for space, this design allows you to fit more components in a smaller area.

Fender p bass rewire

By

Used for first time in fender p bass wiring. Pulls for series/ parallel & q filter/ tone cap.
High quality pots , a little beefier than old style pull pots, a little tough to redo things if you need to because board is a little crowded compared to old style pull pots. But good product and reccomended as long as you have wide enough cavity & dont want to redo or change things.
