CTS Control Pots

About This Item

CTS pots have long been the first choice in American guitars. CTS pots from StewMac have even more to like: closer tolerances and longer life!

We've specified these CTS pots to feature a longer-life brass shaft and tighter ±10% resistance tolerance compared to CTS products offered by most other suppliers.

CTS precision audio taper gives you smoother and more accurate response than you'll get with economy pots. Crank your guitar up to 10 and the volume swells all the way—no abrupt flattening to choke your playing style.

Available with split shaft for fine-knurled (24-spline) knob, or with smooth shaft to fit a set-screw knob. A long-shaft 500K-ohm version fits Les Paul style carved-top solidbodies.

Each CTS pot includes a flat washer, lock washer, and two hex mounting nuts for custom height adjustment on a pickguard or control plate.

Which pot value should you choose?
500K pots are standard controls for humbuckers, and 250Ks are usually used for single-coil pickups. A 250K gives a slightly warmer tone than a 500K, and bleeds off (attenuates) some of the high frequencies to ground.

Replacement Mounting Nuts and Lock Washers are also available.

ChineseDIY Bass guitar kit

By

Bought a Chinese DIY Jass Bass Kit and everything was ok, Hell I only paid $65 for it, I expected to do some work on it. Yeah, I had to get the frets in shape and upgrade the strings. But when the neck pot stopped working I figured to change out all the pots and tone controls. What and where do I go for new controls?
The internet all pointed for StewMac, and thats were I went. I checked out their "How To" files and all my questions where answered. Fender suggested which pots to use. The rest was history.
Update; pots are in and what a difference. I took the bass down to my corner music store and played it against a Fender Jass Bass they had on display. Mine looked better but you couldn't tell any difference in the sound. Oh, yeah the pots worked great, and I say these CTS Control Pots are the best.

Worked great as a replacement!

I ordered these to replace the small pots that came with the ES335 kit. MUCH easier to solder and space for larger wire that I used.

These pots have long been a favorite of builders of higher priced instruments.

Outstanding pot!

I bought this to be installed on my JEM knockoff. Man, what a difference! It’s very smooth, it looks and feels first class, I installed it in minutes (I added a ceramic treble bleed circuit). I use it for volume and I used the existing knob (which fitted very well!) And now I can have hot overdriven tones, roll it off and I have clean pristine sounds as well at the turn of a knob! Thanks, StewMac, world class service!

Excellent Potentiometers

By

I use these potentiometers whenever I can, even on amplifier builds. Other pots I've tried can have a kind of flimsy feel to them once they are installed and the knob is in place. These, however, always feel nice and solid.

I've been using these pots for some time. Always consistant and smooth. The final touch to a custom 12 string that I recently finished.

Smooth taper, & very little tone loss as you turn down.
