CTS Control Pots

About This Item

CTS pots have long been the first choice in American guitars. CTS pots from StewMac have even more to like: closer tolerances and longer life!

We've specified these CTS pots to feature a longer-life brass shaft and tighter ±10% resistance tolerance compared to CTS products offered by most other suppliers.

CTS precision audio taper gives you smoother and more accurate response than you'll get with economy pots. Crank your guitar up to 10 and the volume swells all the way—no abrupt flattening to choke your playing style.

Available with split shaft for fine-knurled (24-spline) knob, or with smooth shaft to fit a set-screw knob. A long-shaft 500K-ohm version fits Les Paul style carved-top solidbodies.

Each CTS pot includes a flat washer, lock washer, and two hex mounting nuts for custom height adjustment on a pickguard or control plate.

Which pot value should you choose?
500K pots are standard controls for humbuckers, and 250Ks are usually used for single-coil pickups. A 250K gives a slightly warmer tone than a 500K, and bleeds off (attenuates) some of the high frequencies to ground.

Replacement Mounting Nuts and Lock Washers are also available.

WOW!!!  Great Product, exceptional service

The pots on my Epiphone Viola Bass crapped out. So I purchased new CTS pots and I love em. The OEM stuff was really cheap. I installed the new pots and .47cap and was amazed at the difference. My new Epip has bottom that is stronger and bassier than my fender had. The tone is clear and defined. The axe now has greater punch and clarity than I would have even imagined. It also is louder, at least 1/3 more than it was previously. Oh yeah, the noise from the old pots is gone, and my neck PU now works. I'm really pleased with the result of swapping out the pots. Stewmac, emailed me that my order was on the way, and when I got home the order was waiting for me five days ahead of projected arrival. Way to go, always happy with your service and products. - Wayne Rouse

I bought CTS posts for a guitar build. I had problems getting the guitar to work right, discovered a bad pot. I called StewMac and they replaced it immediately. Great service to go along with the many great products I've purchased.

CTS 500k pots

I have a strat with Wilde L280/L290 pickups. They have a tone that I like but they’re a little dark-sounding with stock 250k pots. I replaced the 250k pots with the 500k pots (which arrived a few days after I ordered them) and then the pickups sounded crisper, clearer, which I like.

Checked the tolerances with a multi-meter. The results were well within the 10% variation. Great pots.

Great Pots. Works well for my Squier Classic Vibe Telecaster

I bought these to replace the over seas parts in my Classic Vibe Telecaster, which were pretty good. But, I was going for "great" with this "Mod." Had to drill out the holes on my control plate to 3/8th, but that was no big deal. You could also just order an American plate for cheap also. They work great and sound great. What's more to ask?
