Low-profile 2-way Truss Rod

About This Item

For thinner necks that need a shallow truss rod depth. These strong, 2-way adjustable rods correct upbow and backbow. Easy to install in guitars and basses.

Used by Martin, Epiphone, Ibanez, Squier, ESP and Godin.

This ingenious dual-rod design fits a straight 1/4"-wide x 3/8"-deep channel (measured from the bottom of the fingerboard). The adjustment nut turns smoothly inside a nickel-plated sleeve, requiring a 4mm Allen wrench (not included). The steel rods are shrink wrapped to prevent rattling.

The low profile means you don't have to remove risky amounts of wood to install this two-way rod. That means there's less chance of cutting into your truss rod channel when shaping a thin neck.

"I've used these rods with great results, in new builds as well as replacements. They’re very strong, and easy to install."
—Erick Coleman, StewMac tech advisor

Much better than expected.

Very nice. Built like it belongs on an army tank.

Adjustment bolt is large

This truss rod works extremely well and was easy to install, but the large adjustment bolt is not well-suited for low-profile necks that are adjustable from the headstock side.

They work. I like that.

Bottom line is that these are now the only rod I use. I build acoustic dreads, and these allow you to build some slim necks. Coupled with that is the fact that they are "minimally invasive", a very shallow rod pocket. Nice

Worst truss rod I’ve ever used

This truss rod in my opinion is junk. The adjustment head is too big. I should have bought the hot rod truss rod. My fault. Everything else I have purchased from stew Mac has been top notch.

The only truss rod to use...

I have used a few different truss rods by now but have been setting up guitars for years. These truss rods offer so much better adjustment and are less likely to get stuck like others by glue etc. They are smooth in adjusting and if installed properly will give a fine control to setting relief in the neck.

Awesome fit

I ordered the low profile truss rod to replace a broken one in a 20+ year old Washburn bass. Everything went together great, its probably better now than when new. Thanks for your awesome products. I would recommend your products to anyone who wants their instrument in top working order

Low profile truss rod.

I’ve fitted these to the last 6 builds. I find it easier to get the Allen key into this truss rod than others low profile truss rods that competitors have.
Two reasons why I’ve given it 4 stars instead of 5 is 1) that to fit it perfectly it needs the special tool(which is quite expensive) which I don’t have , but will invest in it if I decide to keep using it. 2) I’ve had to file off some of the weld that holds the cover ring for the Allen head screw to get them to fit.
The second one is no biggie and it’s proba to do with the fact I don’t have the special fitting tool.
