abrasive ... abrasive cord

The cord is exactly what it says it is. I'm sure it will come in handy. One note though - don't be fooled by the image of a spool with lots of cord on it. The smaller cord looks like there is hardly any cord on the spool at all. I'm sure there is the length StewMac says there is on the spool, but don't be surprised at how little there is on the spool.

Great product

This cord works great to smooth nut slots, bridge slots, and any small crevice type areas that are so hard to get to normally. One thing I would suggest is getting different sizes. These are definitely not one size fits all and the smaller sizes can break with a little tension on the cord. I would have started with a larger size in the beginning had I known this! I think the medium sizes are more versatile.

Used this to fix issues with strings binding in the nut slots on my Les Paul. The abrasive cord smoothed things out and eliminated that telltale "ping" that you get when tuning up. Now my G string slides around smoothly, just as it should!! All joking aside, the main problem was with my G string, although I sometimes had issues with my B and D strings too, and the various sizes of abrasive cord fixed all of it (I'm glad I bought the set of 4 sizes). Thanks!

Great stuff

I just used these to finish new ABR-1 saddle slots and remove machining burrs from some other saddles. They work just fast enough to get the job done pretty quickly but not so much that you can go overboard. And as mentioned in the video, it's clear that just a single 4" length cut of this stuff will go a *LONG* way.

Abrasive cord works well

Used this to finish a 0.010 filed slot in a Tune-O-Matic bridge saddle.

Worked great and is easy to use.

A Little Surprising.

When you purchase these abrasive cords and open them up, you will be surprised at the amount on the spool. Especially the .015". It looks like there is almost nothing there! I had to go back and re-read the description to see that you only get 12 feet. My mistake. Frankly, the packaging is misleading, as only the largest size takes up the entire spool. This isn't StewMac's fault however. It is reusable, so that is good and maybe it won't wear out very fast.

Good stuff but expensive for the hobbyist

The cord works very well, especially on TOM saddles and break angles where strings contact the edge of the bridge. Anything that helps the strings glide over these areas reduces breakage and helps with tuning stability. I just wish you sold all 4 sizes in a kit with amounts of each for the average enthusiast.

Very useful in a variety of ways

I used it to smooth rough spots on the string saddles/bridge of my Strat that were causing strings to break prematurely. Job made easy with the abrasive cord threaded through the trem block and up over the saddle in question. Excellent result. I am certain I will think of many other ways to use this stuff. Highly recommended and very reasonable in price considering it can be used over and over.

Fine tuning the nut is among the first things I do to every guitar. After filing the desired depth, each slot gets a quick pass with abrasive cord and a dab of StewMac Guitar Grease for smooth tuning. Seeing the results with a strobe tuner I can vouch for excellent results.
