Micro-Mesh Soft Touch Pads

About This Item

Extra-gentle hand polishing for high-gloss finishes. Each pad features Micro-Mesh® resilient abrasive on both sides of a foam center. The cushioning allows gentle polishing of finished surfaces to a mirror gloss.

The set of nine pads includes #1500, 1800, 2400, 3200, 3600, 4000, 6000, 8000, and 12000 grits. Use the grits in sequence to achieve a super gloss.

Micro-Mesh features tiny abrasive crystals on resilient cloth-backed latex. These gentle "cushioned" particles generate less heat and friction than ordinary finishing papers, don't load up as quickly, and last up to 15 times longer.

Use Micro-Mesh Soft Touch Pads with a little soapy water as a lubricant to produce a scratch-free mirror shine (avoiding soaking the pads in water when not in use). We use these regularly in our own shops for finish touch-ups and repairing scratches on pickguards. Use them on for polishing frets, too.

Best Sanding Pads!

By

I just got this set and used it to fix small repairs in a newly french polished guitar - works like a charm and these combined with glu-boost CA glue are fantastic. Once you fill and level the repair, using the pads sequentially yields a finished polish that completely blends in with its surroundings. Get theses, you'll love them!

Takes the mystery out of buffing grit selection

A great product. It took me from being a hack to an advanced refurbisher in a single day. Finish in vicinity of a once gaping crack from scroll to bridge all but makes the repaired crack disappear.

I am maybe not qualified to rate these.

I'd just finished a guitar project. There were some less than perfect spots on the guitar side, and these pads sounded like just the thing. I did not work from coarse up to the finest but kinda started half-way (or half-vast), as I only sought improvement of spot on a pretty satisfactory finish in general. When I at last used the finest pad, as polishing is really just making finer and finer scratches, and the finest of the pads is REALLY fine, I didn't expect to see kind of a haze, but I did. I am not a hotshot wood finisher so maybe in better hands … ?
Only other comment is, just how long will they last? All abrasives "fill up", and I tried a fine brush to renew it, but cannot at this time say how effective that was.
But, they are probably worth a try for you.

Great job with binding and guitar back minor refinish

I had some refinishing and tidying up to do where some CA glue I used to fix some detached binding had seeped onto the finish. These pads did an excellent job flattening out the high points and polishing the lacquer finish. Finished the job with ColorTone Swirl Remover.

Perfect for spot repairs and fixing mistakes.

I just bought mid-90's Regal dobro and let's say it had been "personalized". It had a large, brass, hand-ground "R" stuck on the headstock and pearloid buttons glued around the cone. Of course, careful removal pulled small chunks of finish also. I was able to touch them up with polyurethane and sand them with the pads till they were nearly invisible. The only caveat: the final polish with the 12,000 pad took an extensive amount of work to get it to a glossy polish. Negligible detail for a small area but may want to consider using a buffer for larger jobs.
