removed pick guard from vintage Gibson to repair cracks in the wood underneath. I was able to de-gunk the original pick guard and heated it to flatten it perfectly, used the adhesive sheet and reinstalled adding to my restoration.

I have a j160e gibson and the pick guard had come loose,I tried the local guitar shops in the area for what i could use to re attach the guard but no one had any advice on how to do it until I got in contact with Stew Mac and bingo my problem was solved with great results using 3m pick guard adhesive.

Not good for thicker vintage style pick guards "ala Gibson" the applies perfectly however a corner is lifting up on my latest build. Same thing happened on an earlier build as well.. not impressed

Works good, but watch out!

Used the sheet for a pickguard project, but had my share of problems. First was my fault as I didn't have my pickguard placed exactly where I wanted it the first time I set it down on the guitar, had to pull it up to re-align, before I had even pushed down at all, and what happened was that small areas of the adhesive stuck harder than others and once I got it up, it had balled up in several areas, apparently from snapping up from guitar top. Didn't notice this at all, so when I got it into position the second time, looked good, so I rubbed it down, and what I found was that there were 5 or 6 dime sized bulges in the pickguard. Ouch.
Well, I couldn't live with that, so I ordered another sheet. Pulled up the pickguard and phoned StewMac to find the best solvent for removing the adhesive, was told to use Naptha. This adhesive laughs at Naptha. Don't bother. Tried Acetone, which worked much better, but was still a major effort to get that glue off, I spent around an hour and a half, and couldn't help thinking there must be a better solvent for this stuff. StewMac? Mebbe call 3M and find out?

Great for re-installing the old pickguard

I took the black pickguard off my old Martin and was going to put a new one on but nothing would fit the old footprint on the guitar. The alternative was to use the old pickguard but the edges had curled somewhat and were mostly rigid compared to flexibility of the rest of the pickguard. But the footprint was perfect so the only hurdle was getting the edges to adhere. This 3M product did the job! The tip of the pickguard along with the slightly curled edges STUCK GOOD!

Better than any other method I've tried.

Works very well for adhering a new pickguard. in fact, it is the only method I use any more. Previous method was using spray adhesive but this is easier. I trust 3M to make a proper adhesive, but time will be the test. So far, so good.
