ZerO Glide Nuts

About This Item

The easy way to install a nut, and accurate string height is built in.

Better tuning, better open string tone
The zero fret approach reduces string contact in the nut by 93%. Strings glide freely on the polished fret, and return to tune fast and reliably.

No modification needed
No cutting or changing your guitar. You can switch back to your conventional nut if you ever feel like it. Fretboard radius is not an issue: choose the ZerO Glide that fits your guitar, and the zero fret flexes to conform to your fretboard.

Available preslotted for most string spacings, and unslotted for any situation.

Upgrade option! ZerO Glide now available in stainless steel
ZerO Glide now offers stainless steel zero frets, available seperately. You can easily install these frets in your existing Zero Glide nut, or add them to a new installation.

Simpler than making a nut from scratch
Making a traditional nut is tricky: it means cutting six string slots, each to a perfect depth. The ZerO Glide is so much easier: the built-in zero fret sets all the string heights at once, uniformly. The precut string slots are only needed for string spacing.

Swap out your existing nut
ZerO Glide is a direct replacement, with sizes to fit a wide range of guitars and banjos. You get four frets of different heights, to match the frets on your guitar. These are of a special nickel silver alloy that's harder and longer-wearing than conventional frets.

The zero fret sits at the exact right point for accurate intonation. Tuning is smoother too, as the strings glide across the polished fret surface.

"It was an improvement on my banjo... It actually means the nut sounds exactly like the fretted notes. So if you're doing music like I do, where you're going back and forth from open to closed strings in different places up and down the neck, having them sound exactly the same is an improvement. I found it was a fuller sound. I'm a fan of that."
Bela Fleck, Banjoist and Composer

"It's a totally logical way to do a string nut. If you want exactly the same tone on an open string and a fretted string, there's nothing quite like putting a fret there."
Rick Turner, Rick Turner Guitar Company

greatest action

i have these on a Gibson SJ 200 & two Spanish classical guitars, and have the best action & play-ability ever.................a side note: what i'v done is find the lowest treble fret and cut it in half (filing smooth is a must) and then try the next one up for the bass strings; both of the classical guitars have the lowest fret for the trebles, the next one up for A & D, and a short cut on the biggest fret for the E bass. Your left hand is going to appreciate the 0 glides!

Great product! Made my cheap, unplayable mandolin play like a champ. I’d never done any nut work before and was a little intimidated. The string spacing on the pre slotted nut was perfect!

Went on my '80 Epiphone Acoustic Like a Charm

Bought the Gibson acoustic version and, following the instructions, had a successful implementation on my '80 Epiphone dreadnaught. Definate improvement in sustain and easier playability. I'm no luthier but can do the basic stuff and the instructions made it pretty easy. Jut make sure you have the tools - especially the sandpaper for shaping and glue.

Works great, but must be very careful to obtain the correct fit. Evaluate string action through the entire neck before final installation.

Back for more!

This is the fifth Zero Fret I've installed on various guitars in my collection, and the first on an acoustic. My D3 Guild was the recipient this time. The Zero Fret nut proved easy to install, being the proper height right out of the box. I almost can't believe what a difference it made in the tone! A much bigger change than my electrics. It also corrected the guitar's tendency to go sharp on the low E string at the third fret. Yeah, I'm happy with my purchase- again.

I know I previously posted a less than good review for the Zero Glide nut I installed on my Fender USA Strat, but since I got better results when I tried re-installing it a few days ago, I feel I should post a new review, so here goes....

The re-installation of the Zero Glide nut on my 2014 Fender USA Standard Stratocaster guitar, seemed to go a bit better this time round than it did the first time round, I think there's two reasons why, firstly I think I selected the wrong fret, and secondly I didn't have it oriented correctly, when I did the re-installation, I took more care in making sure I used the correct fret, and that it was properly oriented before gluing it and the nut in place, the results I got seem to be pretty good, the 1st-fret action seems to be nice and low without any fret-buzz, the stock nut that was on the guitar when I first bought it was always causing some issues, one issue was that the high e-string had a slight sitar-buzz to it which I found was being caused by the slot cut in the nut, also the 1st-fret action did seem a little high too, re-installing the Zero-Glide nut back on the guitar seems to have resolved both of the issues I was experiencing with the original stock nut, and the guitar seems to be nicer to play, tuning-stability seems to be better, but not perfect, although it's something I can live with, if the stock nut on your Fender guitar is causing issues, such as the high e-string buzzing like a sitar, or the 1st-fret action seems a bit high, I'd recommend giving one of these Zero Glide nuts a try.

I've included two photos of the Zero Glide nut that I took after re-installing it on my Fender USA Strat.

I'll be darned, it worked!

I had a chance to play an Ibanez acoustic guitar at an open mic night that had a zero fret style nut and was impressed with the playability. My 200 series Taylor was a finger killer from day one and was looking for ways to lower the action without sacrificing tone. StewMac and ZerOglide to the rescue! The instructions are exact and complete with warnings about what you're up against if you be not handy with tools and ability. I took me 2 hours of fitting the nut using sandpaper only. Intonation and tone was Awesome!! Capo intonation was drastically improved. No retunes when clamping on the capo. I can play for hours with .012 's before my fingertips scream uncle. My Telecaster is getting one for sure, thinking my Loar mandolin needs one also. Worth every cent!!! Thank you ZerOglide!!!

Works good, the fit would have been better if it were a couple mm longer and a couple mm thicker.

ZerO Glide Nuts

Once I finally received the product (4-6 weeks is far too long to have to wait for a product that weighs less than 2 oz.) I was not disappointed. Installed and finished it in just a few minutes on my Gretsch Electromatic and it works great!. There is an improvement in sustain. Of course I had to reset my intonation and the feel is very close to my old 62' Gretsch Chet Atkins 6120. The product also got rid of a slight buzz at the top of the neck and I was even able to lower the overall action by almost a millimeter without fret buzz. Highly recommend it!
