TUSQ XL Nuts

TUSQ XL Nuts

Self-lubricating nuts from Graph Tech are ideal for string bending and tremolo work. Now in more sizes!

Extra slippery: TUSQ XL® is impregnated with Teflon® (500% more slippery than graphite). During tremolo bends, the strings slide in the slots, returning to accurate pitch.

Dense and resonant: Pressure-formed TUSQ transfers string energy more efficiently, without dead spots found in natural materials. Guitars come alive with enhanced harmonics, volume and sustain.

Pre-shaped: Slotted or unslotted, they require only minor trimming.

Ivory color now available
Customers have asked for a white version of their favorite Black TUSQ XL. That turned out to be easier said than done, and took years to perfect, but now it's here! It looks like ivory, but won't chip or flake.

Best nuts on the planet

Ordered two, put one in the strat kit I bought from Stew Mac which is crap through and through. Tusq Nut made it sound almost great. Put the other one in an eighty seven dollar strat and it will blow you away. Put these Tusq Nuts in everything you own you won't regret it.

A great price if you're a StewMax member already!

Tusq nuts are always easy to work with and the price is great if you're already a StewMax member since you save so much on shipping compared to other vendors. Keep in mind that you may still have to shave off the edges and/or make a similar radius for the nut on the bottom. These are worth the time they save making another nut from scratch.

purchased and installed a TUSQ nut

I had a hunch I might get a better tone out of my new Epiphone EL-00 Pro acoustic guitar if I could replace the factory nut. I had heard that Epiphone is a Gibson acquisition of some years ago. This led me to risk the possibility that a Gibson already-notched TUSQ nut might be a reasonable fit for the Epiphone. It worked like a charm, and seems also to be an even better string spacing. With very minimal sanding of the bass end of the nut, it was a great fit. The tone, to my ear at least, is noticeably brighter and a little more mellow. Only complaint ( but I can live with it) was that the peg-head to fingerboard thickness was about 1/32 more narrow than the factory nut. This left a thin gap between the TUSQ nut and the little cover plate over the tension rod access hole. But, with the improved tone, I'll take it! Another advantageous note: The surface beneath the nut is flat on this acoustic style guitar, so there was no need to sand out a radius on the underside of the TUSQ nut. I am delighted also that I was able to do this myself in my own shop. Now I'm wondering if I should replace the saddle? It seems unnecessary at this point.

Purchased as a replacement for the incorrectly positioned & poorly slotted nut that came installed on an otherwise "okay" import neck. Easy to install and trim.

Nice nuts

I like these, although they're kinda pricey for what they are. On the plus side, the slots are already spaced properly, so a little depth adjustment gets you where you need to be without having to do a lotta heroic cutting.

Great replacement!

My Fender Aerodyne had a cracked nut and I bought this as a replacement nut for a Fender Jazz neck. Just a bit of sanding to smooth and small amount of glue. The string heights are perfect!

I love TUSQ XL Nuts. I have used them on many guitars and they are very easy to work with and fit. And if you drop them on a hard surface they "ping", like a tuning fork.
