About This Item

The one build you'll take with you everywhere
Ukuleles are comfortable, portable, and sound amazing. They're easy to take to the park, the beach, or throw in your backpack—you'll always want it there when inspiration strikes. Why not take up the craft and build one?

You've wanted to start building (or have a project with your kids), but it's challenging to know where to start. Let's face it, you don't need experience at all to build a great instrument on your first try. These tenor uke kits are designed to make your first build enjoyable from start to finish; we've precisely crafted each part to fit perfectly, letting you focus on the building without worries.

No woodworking experience required!
We give you detailed instructions and bracing plans to guide you through each step of the build to get you to the finish line. There's a good chance you already own most of the tools you'll need to build your uke.

To reduce spring-back and aid stability the back and sides are made from high quality Pacific Walnut (Dracontomelon dao) laminates—this will go a long way to ensuring your first build is painless and enjoyable.

We have two models so you can choose your sound. The solid spruce top gives the uke a dynamic sound and will age beautifully over time. The laminated walnut top is more travel friendly and easy to care for.

    Included with each kit
  • Solid European Spruce (Picea abies) top or laminated Pacific Walnut (Dracontomelon dao) top
  • Laminated walnut back

Great starter kit - easy but...

Verified Buyer

I am starting to think of building an acoustic guitar from a StewMac kit, but I decided to use this Uke kit as practice. I found that although everything is spelled out well and the materials are kind of "you get what you pay for ", the Uke kit was easy but you do have to be careful and take your time, dry fitting, and aligning everything exactly as the instructions say. I am not yet done, so I can't yet say how it sounds and plays, but so far I am quite glad I decided to start with this.

Grover tuners should be part of kit so it stays in tune, notice 2 dont keep tune other 2 slowly slipping. Been looking at replacing tuners and orignals have holes different already, so have to cover. Kit is great just needs better tuners it will keep you playing if it stays in tune which is the most important part of playing with others or alone. Been thinking of another only down fall but worth the learning and fun of building something .

Very poor quality kit. The veneer on the sides did not line up on the heel. The top had deep scratches going 45 degrees to the grain. Also some of the veneer on the sides was splintering off. Called back and Stew MAC service was great. The emailed me a return label.
