Glow in the Dark Dots

About This Item

Easy to see in low light
A big help when you need it most: finding the right fret on a dimly lit stage.

In daylight, these markers look like other side dots, but they light up at night so you see your fret positions.

Charge them quickly with any light—fluorescents and LED flashlights are especially good.

Side dot diameter: 3/32" (2.38mm)
Side dot thickness: 0.060" (1.52mm)

Fretboard dot diameter: 1/4" (6.35mm)
Fretboard dot thickness: 0.055" (1.40mm)

For building a new neck or replacing existing side dots
We recommend epoxy or super glue for installing all our inlays and side dots. Inlay filler colors can be mixed with epoxy for matching ebony and rosewood.

Glow in the dark fret board dots

Terrible product, they do not glow bright, the side dots are not white and cant be seen, you should not sell this product.

These are useless, and near invisible when installed.

Shame on me for not reading through the reviews first as I expected these would be high quality from Stewmac! I installed these in a dark fretboard, and they are near invisible, and do not glow. They certainly look nothing like the product pictures on this page. Now I am facing trying to drill these out and replacing with another vendors product, and hopefully not ruining the fretboard. Very disappointed in these, please don't waste your money, as these are an expensive waste of time & labor.

GLOW BUT DON´T GLOW

"Glow in the dark" but....almost nothing. I order a few blue and green for guitar projects but i don´t think i will be using them. Even at day light you can´t see them. I think i will keep usin the regular ones or buy Luminlays, that really glow. Just a waste of money....

These are simply horrible and do not work.

I was hoping against hope, but, no, these hold light for about 15s, and are worse than invisible when not charged. They've taken a hard-to-see dot and made it invisible. Don't waste your time installing these (the money is cheap, but the installation takes effort).

A bit of poison will ruin the whole meal.

That is what these dots are among Stewmac's usual high quality products. I bought before there were any reviews made, but what everyone else said is correct: low glow, transparent when installed in dark wood, pretty much unusable.

Glad I only tested on one build and not all 20 from this batch.

Glowing Blue Dots

Good but could be better. They need something white to be placed underneath. I have used white paper, it makes dot look more contrast to fingerboard on a daylight. I think white paint will go better, will try paint next time.

Thoroughly unimpressed

Not only do they not hold a glow for very long at all, but when installed on the side of an ebony board they become invisible. Frustrated about having to drill them out and place a competitors side dots in. Oh well, you win some you learn some. Shame I had to waste money and have a disgruntled client to learn it though. Never again with these. The rest went straight in the bin. This is the4 only thing I have ever purchased from stewmac which was not up to par.

Working as expected....

By

Everyone complaining about these dots obviously don't understand what is happening with the glow material... The more active ingredient that is present, the longer they will hold their 'charge'.

But also, StewMac stating a '10' glow time for something so small as the side dots is just false advertising!

The size of the side dot simply isn't enough to hold the energy for any length of time. The larger the dot, the more/longer it can store the energy for. There's a reason why companies like Schecter - who use glowing side dots on a lot of their production instruments - use such large side dots.

Think of it like a battery, the larger the compound used to store and release the energy, the longer it will last.

A useful tip can be to paint the inside of the hole you are placing them into with white paint to help reflect the glow back on itself and retain some of the charge.

Also bare in mind that they will glow instantly under black light conditions and although led/fluorescent lights work just fine to charge (as stated in the description). Consider a pocket UV led torch/light as this will give a lot more of the right kind of energy.... ;)

Poor quality

Barely glows in complete darkness for 10mins when charged properly, otherwise it's just plain white dots, nobody or even you won't notice them on stage

Until the lights go out they are still white

I bought these for a build where I have a maple fret board and the body has some blue in it, so I was hoping that they were at least a light blue in the light, but they are white and only show up blue when the lights are out.
