Tried & True Original Wood Finish

About This Item

Simple, environmentally friendly
An easy to apply oil finish that protects the wood and keeps it clean. The smooth satin result is perfect for players that don't want the feel of a finish on their necks.

No solvents, no VOC's and nature made
Tried & True uses 18th century techniques and all-natural linseed oil and beeswax to make this environmentally safe finish. It has low odor, so it doesn’t stink up your shop.

A little bottle that goes a long way
Unlike traditional finishes, a thicker viscosity keeps this finish from being messy and running during application. Thin coats are the key to good results. Additional coats give the look more depth, and it can be used over wood that has already been stained.

Apply a thin coat with a lint-free cloth and allow to penetrate for 1 hour. Work the finish into the wood until the surface is dry to the touch. Let cure for at least 24 hours and burnish with a soft cloth or steel wool.

2-ounce bottle.

A great finish -- subtle and soft -- for my diy defretting of my seven-string bass.

I have several necks I bought used that I want raw(no nitro) so I'm using true original and so far I like it! Easy to apply, and use!

All the classic perfectly mixed in a small, conveniant bottle. One may have a small box with Tripoli earth to have a complete polishing set available.

Easy on, Easy off.

Wipe it on. I left it on for 24 hours. Wipe it off and buffed with a soft cloth. Left a lite shine. More coats need to build up. Not a replacement for clear coat lacquer sprays. But not the mess and hassle. Good for that hand rubbed old school finish.

Beautiful and Smooth Neck Finish

I used this to restore the neck on a 2005 Jackson DXMG. The original finish was shiny and sticky feeling on the rear of the neck. The rear of the headstock was a satin finish with a slight wavy texture. I sanded the entire neck with 150-220-320-400 grit sandpapers to bare wood. I then applied the first coat of Tried and True Original Wood Finish using a Clarks application sponge examing the coat to ensure a thin even coat. Next, after waiting an hour the entire neck was wiped with a microfiber rag until totally dry. The neck was left overnight for the next coat. The next day, the neck and headstock were rubbed with 0000 steel wool and wiped clean with another microfiber rag before repeating the steps above. This was done a total of 3 times for the maximum recommended number of coats. The outcome is astonishing! It's smooth, soft, comfortable, and real. It has a sleek satin finish that highlights the natural grain in the wood. I did not notice any visible change in tint to the wood.

Tried and True original Wood Finish is very easy to use and a little product goes a long way. The guitar neck and fret board were very smooth after buffed and dry. I think this finish will make a faster, more playable guitar neck and it feels great!
