ColorTone Touch-up Marker

About This Item

Genuine nitrocellulose guitar lacquer, easy to use
Easily repair minor finish dings and scratches. When that heartbreaking first ding appears on your new guitar, these convenient ColorTone touchup pens come to the rescue. No brushing, no spraying!

The applicator tip on the marker is reversible. One end has a flat surface for broad strokes. Remove the tip and flip it around for pin-point application.

Use Clear Gloss for repairs in clear finishes, for spot-sealing tints, and to mask bindings before you stain the surrounding wood. Aged Clear has a subtle tint to match old finishes.

The tinted lacquers are transparent. They're great for touching up sunbursts and finishes where the wood grain shows through. They match the colors in our ColorTone Aerosol Guitar Lacquers.

Blond and TV Yellow are vintage classics. Sometimes called toners, these finishes are semi-opaque to allow some grain to show through.

The Black pen is the quick fix for scratched pegheads, and Sonic Blue is a match for the classic Fender solid color of the same name.

A word of caution:
Nitrocellulose lacquer melts into itself, making it ideal for nearly invisible touchups on lacquer finishes. But that also means there is potential to disturb or damage the existing finish. Experiment with the markers on scrap wood to get a feel for their flow and application before attempting a repair on your guitar.

Warning! Lacquer under pressure
Our new touch up pens differ from the felt tipped marker type we previously stocked. These pens contain nitrocellulose lacquer that is under pressure. It is very important to relieve the pressure built up from shaking it prior to use by pressing down on the tip with the pen in the upright position. This will prevent the pen from flooding your work with excess lacquer.

Touch-Up for Vintage Martin

By

Verified Buyer

I bought this to touch-up a patch on the side of a 1951 Martin D-18. I bought the Tobacco Brown marker, it was great! A couple of coats and it matched the color exactly on the Martin. The client was happy, and so was I!

Works Great

ColorTone Touch-up Marker in Black worked perfect on my Ebony ES335. The two different sized pen tips are great but were still just a little too large for my application. So, I applied some lacquer to a paper plate, dipped a toothpick in it, then applied to my guitar. Black on Black is easy. Color matching may be a different deal.

Just What I Needed

I have an SG Special Humbucker 2012 which I've modded like crazy. I'm the 3rd owner and it already had some battle scars. During my latest project I accidentally drilled a small hole through the pickup cavity through the back of the guitar. Oops. I used the red mahogany pen to color the filled area and fix the other dings and love marks on my guitar. Because it is real nitro and transparent you can slowly match the color of your axe and the nitro melts into the existing lacquer. It couldn't have been easier to use. Awesome product.

It does as advertised it will do. Instructions on each tube are good and explain the best way to use the marker.

Easy to use, with excellent coverage. I used it to in a effort to salvage a MIM Strat. Like any tool you need the right one for your job!
