Exceeded my expectations!

By

I recently purchased a nice Loar acoustic guitar online which was described as "pristine". Upon close inspection I could see that the bridge was re-glued as the area around it had quite a few scratches; some light and some not so light. Years ago I purchased some scratch removal supplies from Stew Mac for my electrics and knowing I had good results I found that this was the product they now carry. I followed the instructions and it exceeded my expectations. Pressure, patience and persistence. Don't expect complete removal on first application. You must use several applications which makes absolute sense as one would not to go too far too fast. It even took out a couple of deep scratches after multiple applications and there is zero evidence those nine scratches were ever there!

It took the scratches out completely and it isn't harsh at all.
I was very pleased.

A scratch remover that works

By

I was not sure it would work. Many auto products in the past did not work. I tried Stew/Mac scratch remover on my prize guitar that I built in 2010 and it did a real great job. Scratches disappeared and Clean and Shine brought a beautiful glassy shine to it.

Works to a point

I purchased this clean/scratch remover combo hoping that it would remove the surface scratches in the poly finish on my Cordoba nylon string guitar. After following the directions, it removed some of the faint scratches but not all of them. I admit that this combo solution may not be designed to work on the other scratches that I was unable to remove.

I used this on my scratches and the polish compound worked as promised. The cleaning polish worked better than Gibson polish.

The clean and shine and scratch remover work very well together and I was very happy to have them. They are a big help with small areas that need to be repaired or refinished.

Impressed

By

I may not show as a verified buyer since my wife purchased these as a gift.

I really don’t have the vocabulary to express how impressed I am with these products. Since it has been said a picture is worth a thousand words, I’ll let these pictures do some talking. An elderly lady brought me a 1954 Epiphone and said “I found this at a yard sale. Can you do anything with it?”

The picture on the left is how it arrived. On the right, it has been wiped down with a damp cloth, had one round of StewMac Clean + Shine, one round of StewMac Scratch Remover, and finished with another application of Clean + Shine. There is a long way to go on this project, but StewMac certainly has it off to a promising start!

Promotional benefit

Most of my work is older or antique stringed instruments, many with major structural problems. The finishes are often in worse shape than the wood, but not to be too cleaned up. I keep small bottles of Stew Mac scratch remover, cleaner and polish and give them to customers. The advantage is that they can go as far as they want and I can be sure the products won’t mess up finishes for future visits. The customers know that I use them in the shop. Promotional benefits for all.
