ColorTone Clean + Shine with Scratch Remover - Set of 2, 8-oz.

About This Item

Safe, everyday cleaner and scratch remover for all of your instruments.

ColorTone Clean + Shine contains no grit or abrasives, is safe for lacquer, nitro, poly, and shellac/French polish finishes. It leaves no residue, no cloudy film, stickiness or build-up. It's safe for all finishes and won’t discolor vintage ones.

ColorTone Scratch Remover will remove fine finish scratches from new or old finishes. It contains no silicone that can do damage and complicate repairs.

Directions:
Simply apply Clean + Shine with a clean cotton cloth or directly on the instrument. Buff to a gloss. Follow with the Scratch Remover if you want to remove fine scratches. Work it into the scratches until they disappear, repeat and let dry to a haze. Buff with a clean cloth until smooth and shiny. Follow up with Clean + Shine for best results.

Promotional benefit

Most of my work is older or antique stringed instruments, many with major structural problems. The finishes are often in worse shape than the wood, but not to be too cleaned up. I keep small bottles of Stew Mac scratch remover, cleaner and polish and give them to customers. The advantage is that they can go as far as they want and I can be sure the products won’t mess up finishes for future visits. The customers know that I use them in the shop. Promotional benefits for all.

Impressive New Combo

This scratch remover and polish exceeded my expectations. No solvent smell, and if it is truly without silicones it's probably the best I've ever used for getting a really stunning, final glass finish without worrying that I might be making future repairs or refinishes problematic. Seems to cut the haze and enhance clarity, "pop", on guitars with figured woods that haven't had a good polish in awhile. I would advise to use sparingly if at all with a satin finish unless you're trying to make that neck more glossy.

My usual regimen to this point finishes up with a final 2000 grit wet-sanding and then buffing with automotive fine cut swirl remover and glaze compounds. With these new SM products I found I could skip the swirl remover and follow the glaze with Scratch Remover and Clean/Shine and achieve a smoother, glossier finish than I've been able to achieve before.
I will definitely be ordering more and in larger sizes. I find the scratch remover goes a lot farther than the clean/shine, so you may want to consider the larger size of the latter.

Oh yeah, the Clean/Shine works great on shiny metal pickup covers and hardware, too.
