Mighty Mite Neck for Fender Bass

About This Item

Shaped, inlaid, fretted and finished. Feels and plays great!
Hard rock maple finished in clear satin polyurethane, with an inlaid "skunk stripe" down the back.

The 20 frets are nicely finished, and the nut is slotted and shaped from PPS plastic with a flat bottom. Maple, Indian Rosewood, or Indian Laurel fretboard with dot inlays and side markers.

Indian Laurel (Terminalia elliptica) is a great alternative to rosewood that can be shipped worldwide. It has a similar dark brown appearance to Indian Rosewood, with a slightly more porous texture and occasional light colored grain lines.

Screwholes for attaching to the body are not drilled. Each neck has a truss rod with a 4mm adjusting nut at the peghead. We recommend Allen Truss Rod Wrench for adjusting neck relief.

The 23/32"-diameter pegholes fit our Adjustable Tension Bass Tuners.

More specifications:
Scale length 34" (863.60mm)
Width at nut 1-5/8" (41.28mm)
Width at 20th fret 2-1/2" (63.50mm)
Fretboard radius 9-1/2" (241.30mm)
Fretwire .042" high x .105" wide (1.07mm x 2.67mm)

Neck thickness (approximate; not including fret)

Ideally, the neck should just drop into the neck-pocket, or be a little snug. Don't force the neck into the pocket. If the body is unfinished, remember that the finish will make the neck pocket smaller with lacquer build up on the edge of the rout. Be sure to compensate for the finish buildup or the neck will be too tight after finishing.

The skunk stripe is the same wood as the fingerboard for necks with Indian Rosewood and Indian Laurel fingerboards. Necks with maple fingerboards have merbau wood skunk stripes.

Instrumental Improvement

By

My Fender MIM Jazz Bass had a too-soft neck, so I finally decided to replace it. I was leery of the Mighty Mite, and I almost opted for another vendor's neck for twice the cost. But then I remembered that I only purchased this bass for something to play around with; my main instrument is guitar. However, this neck was well-packaged and is a quality build. I'm happy I made the purchase. It was easy to install, following the tutorials I found on Stew Mac (just make sure you have a set of nut files on hand).

Good quality. Had to do a little fret work to make it feel broken-in, but now feels and plays great!!

I recently obtained a Squier P bass body, and wanted a Jazz style neck for it. This one was priced right and from prior experience I knew it would be good quality. It fit the bass like a glove, very little setup needed. Plays and feels great and great support with Stew Mac for any questions.

Mighty Mite Neck

I have had my bass with a broken neck for nigh on eight years.
I was scared to death what the replacement cost was going to cost.
Finally got the nerve to try it myself and Stewmac came thru!
The whole process from purchase to making music was flawless!
The new neck was beautiful!
The frets had sharp edges but it was simple and easy to remedy with a file and sandpaper.
Bolted right on with no problem
Thanx to everyone and I will be back!

Everything works fine on the neck, except for my original problem, on the original neck 5th fret on g string is dead will not sustain. My understanding is that this happens a lot on j bass necks. i have tried c clamps, fenders fat finger. Still have problem.

Great, well built product

I have almost always, at some time in my playing career, built up an instrument from parts. Right from my earliest days (and being a broke, young teen), I started replacing parts on my cheap bass guitar.

Cut to 30+ years later, and I simply needed a maple-boarded neck for a replica "punk rock bass" project that I've had in my head for the last year. I'm not a guitar builder (not from scratch, at least), but I know the basics of design and setup enough to simply gather the parts and go to town!

Enter Might Mite and Stewmac!

While the quality of this neck isn't up to a custom made (or Custom Shop) neck, it is pretty nice (and for the sale price I got it for, I am not about to start complaining!). Leveled and polished frets, evenly spaced cuttings in the nut, and a nice, unwarped neck.

Sometimes, you get a winner. I guess this is one of them!

Great Jazz neck!

Just installed this neck on a Jazz Bass project.. Great replacement neck for the price! I've used All Parts and Warmoth before. They are getting too pricey.. I am amazed at the quality! Frets are very good.. My neck even has beautiful tiger stripping.. I would highly recommend Mighty Mite. I checked reviews and comparisons on You Tube and the Mighty Mite won out!
