About This Item

24.562" scale • 12" radius • 24 slots
Note: Gibson® guitar scale is commonly referred to as 24-3/4" but is actually 24.562".

This is the most common of three different scales described as 24-3/4" by Gibson over the years. Many Gibson's have alternate scale lengths—please measure your guitar before ordering!

Tip: For 20-fret necks, simply cut off the four highest slots.

Gibson® 24-3/4" scale changes over the years
The Gibson 24-3/4" scale is one of the most common, and most confusing of all scale lengths-this is because it rarely ever measures out to be 24-3/4 inches! This scale has gradually changed over the past fifty or so years due to changes in production equipment.

Learn more about scale length and how scale length affects tone.

Our kiln-dried fingerboards have flat undersides, are unfretted (no inlays), and ready for trimming to fit a variety of neck widths.

Approximate dimensions: 2-3/8" x 18-1/2" x 15/64" (60.32mm x 469.90mm x 5.95mm)
Scale: 24.562" (623.87mm)
Radius: 12" (304.80mm)
Fret slots: 24 slots, 0.023" wide (0.58mm). Ready to accept our fretwire.

Important:
Ebony is usually not uniformly black.
We offer Black Fingerboard Stain, as used by Gibson®, Paul Reed Smith® and other makers for darkening the streaks on ebony fingerboards, bridges and peghead overlays.

Ordered two Fretboards.. both delivered to Australia within a week,( very fast ) in undamaged condition, due to the good wrapping of the product at StewMac. Opened the package and to my delight, two wonderful long fine grained fret boards. I'm a very happy chappie Mr StewMac, thank you for your continued great service and products. Great Fingerboard

As always, the StewMac quality shines through. Wonderful piece of rosewood with none of the gray streaking that has become so commonplace. Why go anywhere else?

Needed a little work

The fingerboard is definitely not as thick as the original and was a little pitted, not just the grain, maybe a wee bit of tear out. It sanded down to a usable surface for what I needed.

Very nice grain

As has been stated in other reviews, this fingerboard has a very nice grain pattern. it's the second one I've purchased since 2009 and this is even nicer than the first one. The color is very good too. Honestly, very seldom do I give 5 stars, but I can not find anything wrong. The cutoff at the top for the nut might be a little ragged, but it has to be sanded anyway before it's done, so not really a flaw.

Received fretboard on Friday. It was cracked at a fret slot. Called StewMac, they apologized, shipped a new one out, I received it on Monday. That response convinced me they are the only place to buy parts and tools.

I bought the 25.0 version, and it couldn't be any better; material and workmanship both vastly exceed my expectations - I hope they are all this nice!
