Kerfed Guitar Linings

About This Item

We offer traditional angle-cut linings with kerfs that face outward, and a newer radiused style with reverse kerfs.

The reverse style can add more stiffness to the sides, and a smoother appearance inside the body.

Traditional kerfed linings
7/32" x 9/16" x 15-1/2"
(5.56mm x 14.29mm x 393.70mm)
Reverse kerfed linings
7/32" x 5/8" x 16"
(5.56mm x 15.88mm x 406.40mm)

Kerfed lining forms a surface for gluing and reinforcing a guitar's soundboard, sides and back. Each lining is kerfed (slotted) to allow easy bending to fit a guitar's curved sides.

Dreadnought and National™ style guitars require eight strips. Dobro® and soundwell instruments require twelve strips. Specially sized kerfed lining for mandolins (also for dulcimers) are available.

Rehabbing a three string bass..

By

I am rehabbing a circa 1890 three string bass. The instrument is smaller than bass of today, but larger than a cello. The size and uniformity of the linings were perfect for the application.

Too short

I wish these were a little longer. I thought it used to require 4, now requires 8

Precision cut, but a little brittle.

This kerfing is great, it fit my build perfectly. The only down side is , is that it is a little on the brittle side. Make sure you order a couple extra. Other than that. I will continue to use this product over and over again.

Good quality

I’m building a weissenborn guitar, these work great, a little different shape than a standard guitar. They are very flexible and mold to the sides very well

Not practical to make yourself

I love most everything from Stewmac. These mahogany linings make a nice contrast with my maple sides. Thanks again, Stewmac!

Good up grade

By

I purchased this to use on a Stewmac ukulele kit. I wanted to use this because i was not thrilled with the kerning supplied. It worked well and i would recommend the up grade to anyone building one of these kits.

Good product, wish they came in 32" length with a backing veneer to reduce splitting.

Reverse Kerfed linings

By

Verified Buyer

These linings are much easier to apply than anything I've made myself. Quite flexible and very stiff after application.

Great, as usual.

I prefer reverse kerfing for a number of reasons, and these linings are always very uniform and consistent.

kerfing and herringbone top trim

I do not know how to write a review, all I can say is this is the best quality and the fastest shipping
and you always have what you advertise . I would always rather buy U.S. products theyre maybe
a little higher but I always know what i am getting. I have built three guitars using your parts by
watching your kit video and people do not believe I built them. Thanks StewMac.
