Tele trust rod crank

Thankfully I haven’t had to use it but I love my fenders with neck heel adjustment, and I checked to see how this will work and should be just fine.

Works

Adjusting the truss rod on my vintage style tele has been inconvenient at best because of the location and proximity to the neck pickup. I saw this special truss rod crank was available so figured I'd give it a shot. The good news is that the crank does what it says. You can make adjustments without contacting or needing to mess with the neck pickup. I wasn't impressed with the functional design otherwise though. The crank is a little weak, bendy when having to put the directional torque on it to make adjustments, and I found the edges of the tool to be sharp which is uncomfortable to use. The tool is just a bent piece of metal. I'd say realistically it should cost about $3. That said, it did make it more convenient to make truss rod adjustments.

Something so simple can make the difference between a tedious chore and a quick adjustment.

Great Tool For Both Tele and Strat ith Heel Adjustment

By

I have two Teles and two Strats. The Strats require you unbolt the neck a bit to reach the adjustment in the heel. One Tele is old and requires the heel adjustment, too, but has a channel for access, the other is peghead adjust.

This tool is amazing. After unbolting the neck of one of my Strats to make the truss rod adjustment, it was a couple quick turns and done. The tool fit snugly in the slot and felt firm while turning the rod, not wobbly within its own structure. That was a concern, because it looks a bit thin. No worries.

Great tool that is essential in saving time while adjusting heel based truss rods. Only complaint is that shipping price was ridiculous for the size of item. StewMac needs to adjust this for smaller single order items.

It’s small but does a good job with a Tele. It was a good idea StewMac keep it up.

Great for the Tight Squeeze

By

I remember using normal flat-head screw drivers years ago to tighten Tele truss rods. Until a year ago, that's what I had always done. So, I figured I'd give the StewMac Truss Rod Crank for Tele a try. Yes, it gets into the truss rod nut nicely. The offset angled end is really helpful, too. And, it also worked on my Srat's 50's style truss rod nut. That was a tight squeeze. Five Stars, indeed !!!

Finally...something that saves you from having to completely remove the neck to make truss rod adjustments. Thanks StewMac.
